Well, it seems some people used it, and then.... um.... died. So it got a smidgen of negative publicity.

Doesn't it also have a great deal to do with the production of crystal meth?

We can still get it here at all the health food stores (go figure). So basically anybody that wants to create a little crank can't go through the local grocery chain to get it. But now they actually claim their shit is "natural."

Then we have idiots that will rob the pharmacies around here for ephedra but will leave all the really good shit (morphine and pharmaceutical coke, vicoden and hydro codone) behind. I guess these are the guys that think the health food prices are a bit steep.

Um, does anything out there on the market still work like Ephedrine? As long as you use it wisely and in moderation, I don't find it has any negative side effects at all.

That, and I'm a total dickhead without it.

Yes, that happened before I started taking it.

No, anti-depressants don't work.

Ya, it's almost funny how people saw it as some miracle drug for the Far East, but forgot about that whole moderation thing.

Is there anything we don't take to an extreme in this friggin country?

They banned ephedra because some idiots OD'ed on it. It was being produced, used and marketed without sufficient knowledge of it's full properties. It's a traditional chinese herb called Ma Huang and is useful for a wide variety of health problems given the right combination with other herbs and when used by a properly educated herbalist. My dad is a licensed doctor of oriental medicine (D.O.M.), that's how I know this.

From what I understand they won't pull ephedra from the health food stores since that isn't regulated under FDA guidelines. But the day is coming soon since it's getting priced right off the shelf (which is why people are breaking into the pharmacies and health food establishments to raid it). Ma Huang is the biggest contributer to the ephedra mix but there are some compounds that come pretty close to it in chemical makeup (not that I would know what they are) in the "natural food" industry.

I knew a kid that went to the hospital because of an acetaminophen (tylenol) overdose. They should ban that, too. >:

And yet they leave Accutane on the market.
Shit makes nice normal kids suicidal. You should see the clinical trials on this stuff......

Chojin - check e-bay I think some people are still dumping stock. Or find yourself an herbalist.
I've also been taking it for a long time. No real side effects. Oddly, I agree it does wonders for my attitude as well. St. Johns Wort and several others made me pissy as all hell. Prozac made me homicidal. Go figure......

Primatene tablets still have ephedrine in them. I just saw it on the shelf the other day. I don't know if they're trying to get rid of existing stock in that particular store or if it's a general market oversight.
