a song i recorded! (+ a rough demo of an original!)

i recorded the lead on this song for a good friend: http://www.glenwoodsmith.com/thegsb/whycantyousee.MP3. it's slow--some say it drags--and cryee, but it's got some great harmonies. maybe it's overkill, but i sang about eight tracks of vocals on the chorus; all the vocals on the song are me. :P

my friend and i have been working together for many years, in different bands and projects, and i've sung back-up on four cd's of his music. and in september, we even got to open up for bob margolin, jimmy thackery, and many others at this local blues festival. very cool.

What do you listen to? Do you have a part in the writing process?

i've been listening to a lot of fusion-style jazz lately. and i love rock and blues and what i've heard called twang--like the v-roys and lucinda williams.

as far as the writing of this friend's music, i've no control. i do a lot of writing myself, though--like i said, i'm gonna record two of my songs soon.

thank you. i've got an original that i recorded live with just an acoustic guitar and vocals that i'm trying to get edited. i'll get that up soon.
