i recorded the lead on this song for a good friend: http://www.glenwoodsmith.com/thegsb/whycantyousee.MP3. it's slow--some say it drags--and cryee, but it's got some great harmonies. maybe it's overkill, but i sang about eight tracks of vocals on the chorus; all the vocals on the song are me. :P
my friend and i have been working together for many years, in different bands and projects, and i've sung back-up on four cd's of his music. and in september, we even got to open up for bob margolin, jimmy thackery, and many others at this local blues festival. very cool.

You have a very nice voice :) and I liked the song very much, I would keep it.
A little too much reverb?

I really liked it, you have a voice that sounds soft but it stand out at the same time. Real Nice.

thanks, both of you. yah, there are tons of effects on the vocals; not my idea, any of it. i just sang what i was told. :(
and i don't usually sound so "soft"; i love growling.

It's very good, Sadie.
What is the name you're performing under that would go with that track?

I like it and your voice is purty. The reverb is kinda heavy, like fartin said but that's my only gripe :D

thanks!
i'm gonna get to record two of my own songs on my friend's next cd, so that'll be cool. i hope we'll be able to do it by summer. yay.

What do you listen to? Do you have a part in the writing process?

i've been listening to a lot of fusion-style jazz lately. and i love rock and blues and what i've heard called twang--like the v-roys and lucinda williams.
as far as the writing of this friend's music, i've no control. i do a lot of writing myself, though--like i said, i'm gonna record two of my songs soon.

Ok, it works now!
I like your voice Sadie, but like someone above said the material is a bit lacking (I know its not yours) - Lets hear some stuff you wrote...

thank you. i've got an original that i recorded live with just an acoustic guitar and vocals that i'm trying to get edited. i'll get that up soon.

okay. here's a rough demo version of one of my songs, "on the verge (http://sadie.gravito.com/files/on%20the%20verge.mp3)."
it was recorded in one take with an acoustic guitar, harmonica, and vocals. when i re-record it, though, it'll be with a burning electric solo and shit.
sadie

i told you it was rough. >: someone told me it sounds country, but that's only 'cause it's acoustic/harmonica in this version. >:
