I had the pleasure of seeing Chuck here today for problems with his hearing. he has trouble hearing by his mother's report since December. He has not had any known history of recent episodes of otitis media. he apparently has some problems with nasal obstruction and snoring at night, with chronic mouth breathing history.

On examination, his tympanic membranes are both retracted, with an amber colored serous middle ear effusion. His nasal septum is moderatley deviated to the left. His adenoids completley fill the nasopharynx, his tonsils are markedly enlarged.

I would like for him to try a round of Amoxicillin to see if this will reduce the inflammation of the adeonoids and tonsils, because I supsect there is some early inflammation in these structures with his history of fever last week. i would like to recheck his ears, nose, and throat in about two weeks. In the meantime, his mother will be watching im sleep, looking for obstructive sleep apnea symptons. If his ears do not clear, I think he is a good canidate for bilateral myringotomy and tube placement to improve his hearing, and resolve the retraction of the ear drums. I think also he would benefit from an adenoidectomy. If he does have obstructive sleep apnea symptons, then a tonsilectomy as well would be beneficial

I'm getting all four of my wisdom teeth on the same day. Worst part about it? It's during my spring break. At least I get nitrus.

Dude, getting your wisdom teeth removed is a breeze. I was out doing shit with my friends that same evening after I got all mine pulled. If you're lucky you'll be awake while they do it and you'll get to hear the crunching noises!

Noob, sorry to hear about this...I hope everything gets fixed. :(

I kept my wisdom teeth. I wear them on a necklace for when I need to break a window to steal a car.

I have near perperual otitis media on the rt side. Mine was combatted with a combination of Claritin D, Vantin, and a new ear tube every 6 months. It has helped remarkably... but I did it 20 years too late. Now my hearing is half dead in the right ear for good.
