I don't care what you guys say, I hope it's like the ones on the 64 and not a side scroller >:

STFU >:
I must agree though, i'm getting fucking sick of the SOTN formula. Namely, those two damned gba ones. Now there's going to be a third. The ps2 one better not be just a shitty SOTN rip.

Yeah, I hope this one stays far away from the classic Super Metroid/SOTN formula, and is more like the groin-grabbingly awful Nintendo 64 ones.

Cool settings mixed with a platform game and classic CV isn't a bad thing >:

Yes. That's why I liked SOTN and hated the N64 ones.

Don't get me wrong, SOTN was great, and the n64 ones did indeed suck. I'm just tired of such bad tries at duplicating success with the gba games. If they're going to make it a platformer/rpg deely thing, i want something that makes me want to keep playing it, not something that just makes me reach for SOTN instead.

I agree with boogie. the n64 game sucked. If they could make it 2d and still utilize most of the ps2s hardware it could be very awesome.

I agree, I am tired of less-than-perfect SOTN clones. A big part of SOTN was all the different weapons and stuff you could get, and the good music, and the cool effects. That's why I'm hoping that this PS2 one will be good, because they'll finally have the kind of resources available to make a really great game again.
Also, on a lesser note, they are releasing another GBA Castlevania in May. I predict it will be better than the first two, but still not as good as SOTN, which should simply be referred to as "the original."

Fuck you. The best CV villain will always be the chainsaw frankenstein from THE 64 GAMES >:
So...that more than makes up for everything that sucked.

I would love to see it be a bit more rpg like, like sotn, and maybe even more like simions quest. I like the idea of traveling across lands to different castles and such, and correct me if i am wrong but you didnt get to do this in sotn.

It'd only be good as an rpg if it was simple rpg elements, like upgraded strength and hp and possibly learning attacks...but any more than that would make a simple game too complicated and different.

CV64 suffered from the following problems:
-It was rushed, therefore unfinished.
-It sucked to begin with.
-Konami had the balls to release the game again, with the 2 characters that didn't make it (except they basically had minigames instead of being part of the story).
The concept was OK (CV in 3D), but they failed to make it work. However, they COULD make it work if they tried. Their last 3D Castlevania attempt also ended up in the trash, so there's also a chance that CV is cursed when it comes to 3D.
On the plus side (or downside), another GBA CV game is coming out, with another "musical word" of the "dark or nighttime word" title. Forgive me for saying so, but Symphony of the Night Jr's are not really that fun, and you can't see them for shit anyway thanks to Nintendo being filthy homos. >:

Right, SOTN jr.'s are getting quite old. I dunno about potential, either, Boogie. What good is a castlevania game when Dracula is dead?

It's pretty hard to turn a 2D game into a 3D game and still make it have the same feel and make it a good game. It's just so hard to make a game from one format to another like that. It's like making a fighting game and turning it into an RPG. The only game that comes to mind that has successfully pulled off the 3D-to-2D switch is Metroid Prime. Any others you guys can think of?

What are you talking about? Dracula never stays dead.

Besides, if Dracula stayed dead, the franchise wouldn't have even made it to Simon's Quest. Unless Dracula has more relatives than drunken Catholics.

Castlevania is as awesome as ever these days on the GBA. Keep it 2D.
