LordSappington If your parents had an STD, say, AIDS, did the deed and you were conceived, wouldn't you be born with AIDS yorself? I dunno if it works like that for AIDS (I imagine it would, I mean, why not? THe AIDS cells are being transferred to the fetus through the cord) then you could have a straight person with AIDS, and then the straight guys can get it from him/her/whatever.
tl;dr YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GAY
Also, I agree with MattJack; if you had AIDS, you wouldn't want to bring it up a lot. AIDS is pretty embarrassing, I'd imagine, to talk about, let alone go around spreading the news of your entry into the Horde.

I guess the radiation when it turns into cancer doesn't count either.

Sep 10th, 2008 03:30 PM
glowbelly cig, let's be reasonable here. there is no such thing. NO SUCH THING. i don't care if you got parts of your cervix burned out of you or not YOU HEAR ME? YOU ARE EITHER 1. LYING OR 2. UNDER THE SPELL OF YOUR COLD-INSTRUMENT WIELDING OB WHO IS IN TURN CONTROLLED BY A CHIP LOCATED IN HIS/HER RIGHT BACK MOLAR THAT IS PROGRAMMED TO SPEW OUT SUCH NONSENSE TO VULNERABLE WOMEN. THAT'S RIGHT! THEY DID NOT "BURN YOUR CERVIX" OH NO THEY ACTUALLY IMPLANTED A SIMILAR CHIP LIKE DEVICE INTO YOUR CERVICAL WALL THAT IS PROGRAMMED TO MAKE YOU TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THE DANGERS OF HPV THUS PERPETUATING THIS MYTHICAL DISEASE.

Dixie Let us not forget HPV.
Sep 10th, 2008 02:11 PM
glowbelly most people who have an STD don't even realize that they do.

left untreated, STDs can cause all kinds of nasty stuff. and if you don't know that you have it to begin with chances are you may end up with some of the nasty stuff. chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea are all on the rise in the US. those are the big three. most women don't even realize that they have chlamydia and syphilis is often called "the great imitator" because the symptoms in phase 1, 2 and 3 are so close to those of other diseases that they are often misdiagnosed or, worse yet, brushed off by the person who has them as something that isn't a big deal.

anyways.

Well they should start, lest STDs get lost in the annals of time and become just another urban myth like drug addiction or black people.

MattJack I have two friends (male and female)who both have a nasty STD. You'd never guess it either.

Me thinks that people who do have STDs aren't exactly screaming it from roofs either

pac-man In all fairness he was talking about STDs, not pregnancy. And that's only a "problem" if the woman's mother is running for public office or abortion isn't an option.

Small sample size, maybe, but the results suggest that even in monogamous relationships with herpes carriers unprotected sex seldom results in transmission. Think of your sluttiest friend. Have they ever had an std that wasn't more than a temporary annoyance? Syphyllis? Where the fuck are you from, 1850? (Pretty sure you can only get that one nowadays from sailors)

Cervical cancer is relatively rare, easily detectable and highly treatable.

Is it any wonder that Texas was the first state to mandate hpv vaccination? (Yes, I do believe the government disseminates misinformation regarding sexual health.)

Unless you want to debate this (It'll be fun! I promise!) I'll leave it at this:

Certain people have atrocious sexual health. Do not fuck those people. Wash your dick.

Wow. You really are utterly stupid. What about the possibility of pregnacy? Or is that the woman's problem?
Sep 10th, 2008 09:33 AM

Quote:
If detected early, cervical cancer is highly treatable. In the United States, it is recommended that women receive Pap tests at least once every three years. However, many women still do not receive Pap tests at the recommended frequency. In particular, Asian/Pacific Islander women have significantly lower rates of Pap tests than women of other races. Cervical cancer incidence and mortality are approximately 1.5 times higher among African American and Latina women, compared to White women. Researchers have postulated several reasons for these disparities, including fear, cost, lack of physician referral, and cultural issues.

MetalMilitia Having scoured Google for well over 20 seconds I can tell you that the estimated number of people carrying an STI in the US is 65 Million. There are 19 million new cases each year.

So, yeah I don't think they're a myth.
