Colonel Flagg Ah yes, Spam. Who cares what's in it. Just like scrapple.

That "brass fittings" 'bot posted in about 4 other threads that I knew of - probably more.

@MoP - Welcome aboard, just try to keep it reasonably current, eh?

Pentegarn probably wanted to participate and could only think of something to say here. I would have started in the NBA thread myself, tons going on in basketball right now.

Though it did give me a chance to out the spammer in this thread from back in february we all somehow missed.

The Super Bowl XLIII thread

Congrats to the Steelers. Though the refs made a few questionable calls that favored the Steelers. This is the 2nd straight Super Bowl where the Steelers played where the refs made calls that favored the Steelers...beginning to think the NFL Refs are Steelers fans...

PS CHECK OUT MY SIG, ITS GOT A SPAM

Agreed. That commercial was hilarious though.

I also found the Mr./Mrs. Potatohead commercial funny, but that was because my one cousin was on a Mr. Potatohead kick and kept calling things from his laptop like "Did you know that I have a Mr. Potatohead toy worth five dollars? I got it in a Happy Meal ten years ago!" or "Does anyone want to watch this Mr. Potatohead commercial from Finland?"

ZeldaQueen And alcohol consumption most likely.

Anyway, it was college students. We don't always make the best decisions, I must confess.

Tadao It has everything to do with testosterone overload.

Kitsa Can't say I ever understood the "yay our team won, let's destroy our own city" mentality.

ZeldaQueen Go Steelers! WOOT!

Oh yeah, Pittsburgh was thrilled last night. So thrilled that the students at the University of Pittsburgh had a bit of a riot. From what I heard, several sofas were set on fire, a bonfire was made, a tree was pulled down, a bus station shelter was demolished, a rock was thrown through the window of the campus library, and several parking meters were stolen/attempted to be stolen. I saw a picture of the crowd with a guy calmly walking off with a plastic newspaper dispenser under his arm. I was talking to this guy today and he said that he went to a nearby pizza place around midnight. In the shop, he met someone who admitted they used quarters to pay because they broke into a parking meter.

Needless to say, it was a very strange scenario today. Several parking meters were still missing and the bus stop shelter looked like a giant stepped on it.

Kitsa I hold out that this was more entertaining than the entire thing combined:

McClain Three years in a row where the game was actually more interesting than the commercials. It's a streak!

My fav was the careerbuilder commercial where the koalla gets decked. How can I not love that shit?

Angryhydralisk I saw that Cash4Gold and said "That's not a super bowl commercial!!"

And it is. WOW. The half-second commercial was my favorite though. And of course, Dairy Queen. Maybe the food isn't great but their commercials are fucking class. And I'm tired of McDonalds' gay-ass commericals and those talking babies.

Anyways, you can't say the game wasn't lacking drama towards the end. First half with the Cards dropping balls was just headache inducing and that 100-yard touchdown REALLY threw me off. Second half I was on the edge of my seat. Not NEARLY as satisfying as last years, but still fun.

this cash 4 gold commercial towards the end of the game was about the only halfway decent one of the whole evening:

Geggy I was antipicating to witness the first successful, game winning hail mary pass in the history of superbowl but it turned out to be disasterious for the cards. Still an epic game, tho

DevilWearsPrada I was kinda surprised about that too, was thinking they'd call pass interference or something
Feb 1st, 2009 10:51 PM
WhiteRat I'm curious as to why the refs didn't bother to review the fumble at the end. The call probably would of been upheld but to have an extremely important play that sealed the game, and not review it, is asinine.

DevilWearsPrada it seemed like it was going to be one of those last 10 second miracle wins for arizona, then all of a sudden they fumbled and pittsburgh picked it up for the win.
I bet the QB for arizona's gonna feel like shit forever

Colonel Flagg Very good game, terrible outcome. Better luck next year, Arizona.

Fathom Zero Woo, damn.

WhiteRat I'll remember this game as being very exciting. One of the better Super Bowls i've seen.
