Pub Lover Haha, before I even opened this thread to read your reply, my intention was to say "NO, I WILL HAVE THE LAST WORD"

You were 'essentially saying go ahead and take [the last word]'? So big & redundant of you.

I was venting about personal attacks I have received due to things related to the topic, I didn't take your first post as one.

I didn't, and still don't, have the intention to make fun of the death of your daughter. If it seemed like that I am sorry. I am not above doing such a thing, but be sure if I did, there would be no subtle inference, I would loudly & repeatedly make reference to it in the crassest of manners.

Kitsa Aren't you just saying, then, that you'd prefer the last word? Which I was essentially saying go ahead and take...you obviously took my post about my local news staff sucking as some sort of personal attack. Even though I don't really know you and have no idea what you do.

Also, thanks for making fun of some phrase I used when I wrote that my daughter died.....very classy.

Go ahead, say whatever you like, the stage is yours.

Pub Lover YEAH? WELL, YOU SUCK AT YOUR JOB TOO.

Just because I reply to you in your thread, you don't have to reply back. Especially if you're saying nothing. We already have enough saying nothing threads.

Kitsa Hey, if it's that important to you, you can have it.

I know what you said, Lil'bint. You called them a bunch of feck ups. I also know that in television the look is everything, and even if that were not the case, in my experience the people that are most vocal about their disapproval for mistakes don't care to make the distinction between looking & being.

There are probably hard working people there that never do anything wrong, but that doesn't put them in a position to remove the types of people that spend all of their time sliming their way into places they by rights shouldn't be. It's really common, and so are people willing to bitch about it.

That said, I almost always let slip a giggle when I see a channel fuck up.

My local news always gets stories from Detroit, and they always ask these fucking rednecks or black stereotypes off the street for their opinions and it's always the same "WELL WE'S BELIEVE DEM KIDS NEED TER STOP WIT DEH LOITERIN' AROUND THA SEVEN-ELEVENS PARKIN' LOT AND DEN DEY GONE AND DONE THROWN DEYS TRASH ALL OVER THA PLACE SOMEONE SHOULD TELL DEM KIDS A LESSON" which is why I don't watch local news

But they sent a reporter "to the scene" during the whole Hurricane Katrina bullshit and he was obviously in front of green screen wearing a giant blue raincoat. It was funny because he was pretending to fight the wind while standing there.

Kitsa yeah, around here a lot of the time the public access channels will just show a Windows Desktop for hours.

Tadao I remember seeing the blue screen of death for an hour during local news time in my small little town. That was funny.

Kitsa There was a woman in Indianapolis who was as far in her pregnancy with twins as I was, when she was a bystander in a bank robbery. The asshole shot her in the abdomen for no good reason, and although the bullet missed both babies she lost them anyway, a few days ago.

They've been concentrating more on the woman than the sonavabitch who shot her, and I don't know if he was apprehended or still at large. However, having just lost one of my daughters and having felt just half the pain she did, I think in her place I would have happily have tracked down and murdered the guy myself. He'll probably just get manslaughter, although he injured her severely and killed both her children.

It sounds a bit harsh but I think in certain situations, if guilt has already been proven, the court should just turn them loose and let mob justice take place.

Tadao Thanks Pub for the insight, although I'm sure we already know who is to blame for the fuck ups. It is always the control room because it is their responsibility to keep things like that from happening. I guess what I'm saying is, fuck you.

10,000 Volt Ghost MSG manages to baffle me sometimes. Someone got injured at a hockey game pretty bad so they went to a commercial for HSBC with a tilt a whirl going around. Except the audio was still from the game so it was "Wow, look at all the blood, there's blood everywhere!" I didn't catch on at first and got kinda weirded out about a bloody HSBC commercial.

JediScum I agree Pub.... but I work in kitchens. Same thing tho.

As far as local news, i know nothing. Locally people will chatter about shit that I've already heard, except for maybe something important.

so i ask this woman at work, "Didya hear about the Austrian guy, who kept his kid locked up for 42 years? and raped her? "

"No..."

"Well, then I guess it wasn't Televised"

Just like like the Austin cop who raped a pregnant woman, while in uniform. He was "off-duty" yet responded to a call and after Austin wanted to string him up by his nuts, he got aggravated assualt. And a suspension .... for a month.

Pub Lover That all sounds like one guy in the control room not pulling his weight.

I've worked at a few places like that & most problems are cause by one guy, either the owner wanting to be involved, or an obnoxious douchbag that is so adept at talking himself up he's got everyone convinced he is the best trained guy there & without him things would fall apart.

I hate that guy.

When local news just doesn't have its shit together...

I don't know how it is with your local news, but around here it's a bunch of feckups, especially the ABC affiliate. Usually, hilarity ensues.

One time a guy was doing an intro to a story, standing in the pouring rain, and he thought he was throwing it back to some videotaped report. The tape never came on, and we saw him gaping for a full minute or so before he said "What? What happened?" Then they cut away.

Another time, they screwed up their background pictures and showed a picture of a priest as they did a story on a local child molester. Then we saw court footage of a child molester as they talked about how a priest was being honored by his community.

It's not at all uncommon to hear audio accompanied by a blank gray screen and have them not figure out there's a problem for quite some time.

One guy was finishing up a report and was supposed to be sending it back to the anchors...but the camera never cut away, and he got pissed off. He just stood there glaring at the camera before doing an exaggerated shuffle and hip-swivel and practically shouting, "BAAAAAAACK to YOU!" Eventually they went back to the anchors.

Damn they look inept.
