Marc Summers I had a bad dream last night

First, I'm sleeping at my parents' house with my clothes on for some reason, with all my stuff in my pockets. My cell phone vibrates, and I pick up to answer, but there's silence on the other end. I lay in bed with my eyes shut for a while, then open them a little bit and play with this elongated tear drop shaped metal thingy floating in the air for a while. It seemed like an blimp made of aluminum. Then it flies away, and I realized that I just had no idea what the hell that thing was, and why is was hovering in my room. I then notice a constant churning sound going on outside.

I step out the front door and there are ENORMOUS versions of that little blimp thingy. They seem like they're celesial bodies-- very far away, but very huge. There were few dozen or so, but they practically filled the sky. They were also a sky blue color, so they blended in with the rest of the sky like when you see the moon during the day sometimes. It looked like one had crashed far off the horizon; it was sticking out of the ground and smoldering.

Directly in front of me is an endless line of these weird futuristic bulldozers, leaving no space in between them. They were white cubes about 10 feet tall with two mirrors on them where eyes would normally be if they were a face. I didn't see any wheels or other mode of transportation. They're churning up the ground, and moving at a slow pace. I jump to see over them and see nothing but a fresh dirt field for miles around, as if the rest of the world had just disappeared behind the line of bulldozers. They were about 50 feet away from my parents' house, and slowly inching their way forward.

I completely flip out and yell at everyone to get out of the house. They're not even there when I walk back in. There weren't any cars at the house, either. I run back out the front door, and notice that the bulldozers are now 10 feet away, and I could see the ground and asphalt being ripped up underneath them. I'm practically glued to the spot as if some force keep my body from moving and reacting, and I wake up as I see my feet disappear underneath the advancing line

Marc Summers Ya, it's like the most bizarre random crap could be happening and you think that it's completely normal, or that it has somehow happened before and you have sort of a deja vu. Like whenever I have dreams where I'm in public without my clothes, I'm somewhat embarrassed but accept it as some sort of an inevitability

Sajuuk Today, during class I passed out and was looking down on my body somehow. I couldn't tell wether it was a dream or not since in most of my dreams, questioning reality never seems to cross my mind. Then I saw the teacher coming and instantly woke up

The whole experience lasted like 10 seconds.

Fathom Zero I have premonitions of songs that I'll hear later in the day.

kahljorn one thing that helps with remembering dreams is thinking about them and analyzing them as soon as you wake up. The longer you think about it while you're awake the more likely you are to remember it, but I don't know why you would want to. Dreams are pretty poinless overall.

unless you're doing canstenada type shit. Y ou guys need to read that book. I'm going to find a copy online.
http://www.prismagems.com/castaneda/donjuan9.html

there it is! if you go back another page it has some other stuff by him. If you haven't heard of him Carlos is this guy who met an old indian shaman and he taught Carlos how to be a shaman. He sort of shares the lesson and his experiences, sometimes his writings are almost journalistic.
I don't know how "Real" it is but the ideas make sense to me. Like when you are in your dreams and you've gone lucid sometimes it's hard to hold onto that state, or hard to focus on objects and keep the reality around you as you want it. Focusing the dream enviroment is key and is where the magic comes from (like with most other forms of magic, not the stupid kind the serious kind, useage of the mind against nature is basically magic).
So he gives an example of how to learn to focus it by observing objects and attempting to keep them from changing into other objects or moving around or whatever like dreams often do. Then to try to do the same with an entire room etc etc. Basically just learning to control your mind in a dream is basically what I think it comes down to. I haven't really read it for a while but maybe ill go back to it and see what's beyond that, but I remember alot of talking about ASSEMBLAGE PoINTS and shit.

Hence, the reason I use to write em down. The good ones.

Fathom Zero I had a dream once like that episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark where that one kid got a virus while in virtual reality and he couldn't escape it and a serial port appeared in his hand and the physical manifestation appeared and was going to kill him. That scared me. I'm going to try and remember tonight's dream.

I always dream, but rarely remember them for more than a few minutes after waking up.

Rarely something will happen to remind me of the dream and suddenly I can remember all sorts of details.

I dreamt a lot more and remembered more of my dreams when I was younger.

I never, ever have dreams make any sort of sense whatsoever.

Well, they make sense while I'm actually dreaming them, they don't really make sense the next day. Though I do have dream deja vu constantly. I'm always sure that I've done it before.

kahljorn we must all be really smart super creative dream people since we can remember our dreams and they are so fantastically inventive and invigorating!!!

i hate falling dreams too, the worst falling dream didn't even happen to me (i wasn't the one falling). It happened a year or so ago. It was a crazy dream through and through and it had some "Chasing" (somebody got caught stealing or something) we walked outside onto this ledge(like a cliff ledge it was really high) and I think we were in las vegas and they were opening some new hotel, but it was only half finished as in onlysupports and foundation. They were giving tours and the line was long a bunch of people got on before me and when it was almost our turn suddenly the entire building collapsed on itself andall the people inside died...all the screaming was horrible.

I'venever written down any dreams dream journals are gay. I just happen to have a good memory andalso like I said I practice canstenad as art of dreaming. Part of whatI did with it was do my best to remember all of my dreams...

do any of you guys have lucid dreams where the thing that ticks you off to it being lucid is that you've already had the dream before? Sort of like dream deja vu.

DuFresne When I was three or four, I had TONS of falling dreams. They made me afraid of heights to this day.
Sep 24th, 2006 05:42 PM
Grislygus I hate "chased" nightmares. I had a crapload of 'em when I was a kid. Usually involved a Grim-Reaper-type phantom.
Sep 24th, 2006 03:56 AM
DamnthatDavid Eh, Kahl is insane.

I use to write down the strange dreams, the ones that stand out. I have so many that I can't remember all but the best. (the Stuka dream)

The scariest dream involved me when I was like 7 or 8.

I grew up on a single street on a hill crest in the middle of Tacoma's resident neighborhood(Tacoma is nothing but hills). 2 rows of houses, 1 street in the middle, on a small hill.

All the nieghborhood kids would run out and play in the street, we had no traffic. In this dream, all the kids where out. There was about 20 something of us total. All different colors and crap.
My mom told me not to look down the hill. But I looked. And saw a 50 foot evil horse looking up at me. That thing chased me all over. Appearing inside houses, jumping out of cars (it could change sizes) Generally the entire area was its domain. All the kids scattered, leaving me in the middle of the street. I sat there, rubbing my eyes, knowing it was a dream, and trying to wake up. I couldn't. Not for a good while. It was laughing at me the entire time, in a crazy old lady way.

That dream freaked me out.

DuFresne If a well-adjusted free man like kahl can dream that shit up, imagine what an angry old man exiled to an island could do.

kahljorn grislygus one thing to keep in mind is that just about anything can keep your mind from geting proper rest, whether it's bad diet, sleeping at the wrong times, ad sleeping position or even having a lumpy bed it could be almost anything keeping you from sleeping properly.

kahljorn "kahljorn I never knew what that was called. I guess that means Ive had Lucid Dreams since I was about 10."

Yea I think the word lucid just means "Aware". Typically new agey type people attach it to dreams they aren't only aware of but are able to control.

"has anyone here ever had sleep Paralysis?"

me i talked about it here:
"i sort of woke up in between dream states (as in obviously awake and could see my surroundings if i wanted but couldn't really move my body or escape falling back asleep)"

I had the following crazy dream: I was outside my house on christmas and there was a bunch of neighbors hanging around and one of them had some crazy drug he gave me it was like a glass pipe with powder inside of it and you suck and it coats your throat and you get fucked up, so I did that and looked up at the sky. Slowly the sky started to turn different colours(red and orange etc.) and the clouds appeared closer, then in the distance I saw one of them hit the ground like a meteor. Then some more. A crazy looking tordnado also appeared in the distance and i could see splinters of houses flying everywhere. Then the houses closest to me started melting like they had acid on them and you could see the foundations, then I saw someone run by being chased by a crazy gigantic demon who swooped them up and ate them.
At this point I realized the dream was about the end of the world and so did my parents so we stood in the driveway and waited to be "Judged" and then what sort of looked like an even crazier version of death appeared. It was floating and kind of short and and there was two other demons with him and they were going to judge us and possibly kill us. I decided i wouldn't let them judge me and a bunch of stuff happened and the next most vivid memory is me being in some crazy cave on a bridge and I guess i was going to kill demons or something because I had a sword and I was looking at this crazy throne that looked like satan's throne and I was a bit scared or frustrated so I shouted out, "WHERES GOD" and called him worthless a few times then this crazy owl flew out at me and he was covered in leaves and I said, "I know you you're god"
then we were in a forest and I asked him, "Who are you" and he responded with, "There are two complimentary forces in nature, and I am the master of Yin" simultaneously as he was saying that he turned into a gigantic tree monster then shrunk down to a tiny lemming bush and turned into some other things as well.

I don't really follow that stuff but it's supposed to really help if you sleep properly.
All I drink is water, and I eat lots of meat, vegetables, and fruit.

Seriously, I'm a wuss. I'm just not tough enough to handle manly things like beer battered pork rinds and vodka.

Marc Summers I do have a pretty active imagination :/

In my dreams I've dreamt that my backyard became a giant arcane sundial that caused a haunted train that looked like it was built for ages 3 and up to appear out of walls in my house. It took me to some bizarre alternate netherworld that looked like the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland, except every country was from HELL . It scared the shit out of me, because everything was all hot and melty and um, evil

I've also tried to flush Mac & Cheese down the toilet, with predictably messy results. I just remember after the mixture of toilet water, elbow macaroni pasta and melted cheese started flowing out of the bowl like Niagra, I ran outta there and pretended that it didn't happen.

I also had about a week in high school where every night I dreamt that I fell from somewhere really high. I could literally hear the bones crack on impact as I'd be shocked awake with a huge knot in my stomach. One time I remember I fell into the ocean so there was a splash, but I also really had to go to the bathroom :/
