I didnt make that clear, he is the earthly manifestation of a god, and is thus subject to earthly harm

the god of capitolism

I always held a fondness for the Merchant in Resident Evil 4. And upon completion of the game I came to a conclusion that the Merchant is a god.

Yes. A god, much like that of the tribal gods of old, he is the manifestation of one of many gods.

He is the ever watchful and benevolent god of capitalism.

A lone warrior (Leon) is set out to foreign land, from his own home (America) that resides under the watchful eye of it’s local god, the god of Capitalism.

Like the ancient tribal gods of Neolithic Mesopotamia, there are gods for each land thus they preside over a certain “tribe” These gods were powerful and supreme in their land, but outside of their territory these gods became weak in light of another lands god.

So Leon travels over seas and is greeted with a daunting task beyond his grasp, as a lone mortal. Seeing his plight the god of capitalism steps in to aid his warrior.

This is were the Merchants weapons come from, and how he moves around and sets up shop ahead of Leon, through even the toughest obstacles. Leon is a single man against unimaginable horrors, and against untold numbers of enemies. Leon is fighting faith, and a ruler under the power of a strange god that he dose not understand. And he comes through triumphant under the watchful eye of the god of capitalism. Thanks to this gods actions both seen, and implied.
