Fathom Zero It just occurred to me that Frank Miller makes the ugliest stuff ever. Jesus, look at that. That's awful.

srubia I signed up just to post this, BTW.... stumbled across this site while looking up FM's Robocop and have loved most every other article in the series, hope you do some more soon.

I just watched "Robocop 2", and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. Aside from the main whole in the plot -- how anyone in their right mind would think the major drug kingpin for the city would make a good test subject is beyond me -- I think it holds up pretty good, maintaining some of the biting satire from the first while delivering action that is a step up from the previous installment. A number of times while watching this movie and smiling at some of the jabs at corporate America (or just generally the concept of privatizing the police force), I thought to myself "I wonder just how much of Frank Miller's script made it into the movie?" I assumed the high-minded ideas were his.... and how WRONG I was in that assumption. How brutally stupid in both concept and execution. I thought for sure the drug-kingpin-as-Robocop-2 was the height of ridiculousness, but then I come across the corporate chick taking over the robot body? Too much, waaaayyy too much. I had the same problem with the artwork you had, though it makes the book look more fun than it actually is. Wow, I hate myself for reading this.... at least I downloaded it rather than go out and BUY the damn thing!

xyzzy929 Frank Miller's Robocop: It may not be accurate storywise, but it will blow your fucking mind!

g_tonttu Ouch my brain hurts...Proto you poor man, one would not wish even the worst of enemies the torment of actually having to read the pile of crap that is Robocop2.

Crazy Frank...one can but wonder what he will come up with next.

NathanTZ The Robo-Pimpslap will be in my mind til the day I die now, as well as on my picture screensaver. Thanks Protoclown.

Pretzel Okay, I thought I was the only one who noticed that, Yaanu! I feel better.
Apr 6th, 2008 12:55 PM
Yaanu Also, I'm pretty sure Lewis' boobs grow a few sizes at the end of the comic.

Count Mek Holy crap that was terrible, I actaully feel sorry for that lady cop whose clothes seemed to be destroyed by air.
Good article though.

Kilgore Cod I'm a huge fan of the first movie but never cared for the sequel. I had been hearing for years how different the finished movie was from Miller's screenplay and was very interested when I found out there was a comic book made from that screenplay. Once again I-Mockery has saved me money!

mew barios i guess the random electricution panel could've been drawn already as a reference to the part in the movie when he grabs electrical wiring to wipe out the new directives, cuz it looks a lot like that. and then they realized that part wasnt going to be in this comic and.. no i give up

neoboman I love Robocop 2, it's so over the top and, especially at the time, really dark and funny.
Apr 5th, 2008 02:26 AM
Ancient Echo The only thing I can remember as bad as that is Jar Jar Banx.

Lord Forte I actually loved the Robocop 2 movie. When I watched it first time as a kid, I was horrified by some scenes, but at the same time loved every second of the movie.
But this comic seems awfuly bad and I don't even want to touch it.
Good review mr. Protoclown.

Yaanu Looking at the art, it reminds me of some of the art in the movie parodies they do in MAD Magazine. If I had a name, I'd spill it here, but alas, my old 2003 MAD issues are in my closet, probably without their covers.

Butters Wow. Completely insane, and that art is AWFUL.

Those "gritty" gore scenes actually make me dizzy.

MallardMan Batman and Robin. Crap. I blame Jeff Loeb.
Apr 4th, 2008 01:07 PM
MallardMan I had to register just because of this article. Because I read this comic. And it hurt me. A lot. At the time, All-Star Batman and Superman hadn't come out, and I had convinced myself that maybe Dark Knight Strikes Again was a fluke. I hadn't read that much Frank Miller, but I'd read "Daredevil: Born Again", "Batman: Year One", and "Dark Knight Returns". This book was my road to recovery. Fuck you, Frank Miller. You should stop writing things, and everyone knows you're going to ruin "The Spirit".

The one saving grace for these books was that I didn't wind up paying for them. I don't like it when Frank Miller's angry "women are either hookers or nothing else, god why can't all boobs be covered in blood" semen gets on my money.

Redem Well maybe we should find Frank Miller Screenplay in order to find what percentage of it is in the comic

For some reason, I kinda like the movie robocop 2 but then it have been a while since I saw it

Kinda funny that for a guy that miss his wife he kiss Lewis at the end

Ashmodai Frank Miller is bat-shit insane.

Jaimas *Brain Falls Out*
Jaimas' Brain: Fuck this shit, you're on your own, man.

Doctor_Who I've read the comic and seen the movie, and let me tell you - while the film is no gem it is a hundred times better than this. At least you could tell what was going on more than half the time.
Apr 4th, 2008 02:21 AM
Drunken_Lemur408 Proto, is there any chance you will look into Robocop Vs. Terminator? Br.Boogie already looked at the game, and it's sure to have even more Frank Miller insanity.
Apr 4th, 2008 02:01 AM
Julio By the way, is it me or it just looks like the cover features RoboCop showing a huge eyeball through his visor?
Apr 4th, 2008 01:56 AM
Julio Ah, I always suspected that girl Lewis was hiding something... Underneath her uniform!
Apr 4th, 2008 01:45 AM
Dungeonbrownies its like tons of grit + the film + w/e masturbation materials kids w/o internet could get their hands on all into a blender together.
