RIP Ernie Harwell

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseb...94304317_x.htm

My brother was a Tiger fan, so I also grew up a Tiger fan despite living in Columbus. My childhood was spent in front of a radio listening to the Tigers games when they were on WJR. To me Ernie Harwell was the voice of baseball. I remember the game the Tigers played against the Blue Jays in 1987 when Larry Herndon hit the game winning home run which clinched the division. Ernie Harwell's excitement was evident and I was ecstatic. Every game I listened to on the radio as I grew up was voiced by Ernie Harwell, and it felt as though a beloved uncle died when I heard the news.
