Shadowdancer21b I love having the Metal Slug Anthology on PS2. SNK Playmore has REALLY been great about releasing collections of their best games. I have to tip the cap to them. My wife will actually play Metal Slug with me now.

That's the one I have. I think most people just put it on free play and plow right through it. I like to give myself 5-10 credits and see if I can beat the game.

timrpgland The best version of the anthology is the PS2 version.

The Wii's controls aren't as good.

The PSP's loading is horrid.

I was recently playing Metal Slug 3D for PS2, pretty good actually.

I think they're both identical in the sense that all they have on them is Metal Slug 1 - 6 and the image gallery.

I would have to believe that the Wii version would run a little smootherr. I know on the PS2 version there is some slowdown here and there while I can only assume that on the Wii the framerate is more stable but that's just speculation.

TheCoolinator I recently purchased the Metal Slug Anthology for PS2. It's probably the most amazing SNK compilation ever created.

Metal Slug 4-5-6 graphics are jaw dropping. Retro-gaming at it's best.

Anselm I've had my Neo-Geo since the year it was released. Purchased it used with Magician Lord and Baseball Stars Professional from Game Dude, a catalogue company that had a store in California.

When Metal Slug came out, my Neo-Geo library had stopped growing. I was going to buy the cartridge for $300. My finger was on the button and I just didn't follow through. I rationalized that the money could be better spent better on a new system or several other games. Looking back, it was the "responsible" choice.

So I never played Metal Slug. Now I regret it. I want the cartridge but it has now slipped well beyond my financial grasp. I'm going to go buy the anthology and play it, but not having it for my AES system is going to permanently haunt me as the one that got away. Well...that, and having power cut out during a lightning storm after playing a single game of 1942 for 4 hours straight. My dog dying would not have gotten as strong a reaction that night.

Mad Melvin I am ashamed to admit, but the only Metal Slug I ever played was the first one. That was until about three weeks ago, when I found Metal Slug Anthology (Wii) for a very reasonable price. Now I stand before you a changed man. Pure awesomeness in a neat package.

Max Radical I got the anthology for PSP over the holidays, and goddamn I love it. Playing through all seven games, then playing through them again with less continues and more feeling like a bullet-dodging badass.

You've always got to love the ending cinema to the first game: grieving kids, widows, and you're there "Wait a minute, I'm the badass good guy, right?"

Girl Drink Drunk I got the PS2 version for christmas and didnt have to worry about bad controls or paying $12 for one game.

executioneer hahaha

timrpgland Only have had a little time to play it so far but it's a very good port.

Online, leaderboards, spot on controls and no loading issues (like the PSP anthology).

Unfortunately it's grey blood...

Spruce Moose The controls on the Wii version of the Metal Slug Anthology are only bad if you choose the wonky new Wiimote control options. Which you don't have to at all. Turning the Wiimote sideways works great for me(even the wiimote has enough buttons for Metal Slug, and I don't mind giving a little jerk for a grenade), or even just plugging in a Gamecube controller(more buttons than the game even needs).

If you only have a Wii, I would tell the reviews up yours and get this game. It's a great buy regardless of the version, and the new controls are only a bother if you're dumb enough to choose them(of course, the reviewers need to cover the whole game, including those controls, especially since they're the only thing different in that version).

Terror Dino Nah playing with some one there is the only way to play metal slug. Have arcades thought you nothing of the metal slug brothership.

Zomboid I think that guy's name is "Zak", or something. Anyway, I like playing 2 players with whoever, really. Sometimes I'm by myself but there's people on my friends list that wanna play and that's usually just as fun.
Jan 4th, 2008 03:38 PM
Chojin I already have metal slug anthologies, but yes, the control schemes suck.

Also I don't know about you guys but for 2 player games like that I prefer to play with the guy sitting next to me.

Zomboid Plus you can't play online with your favorite i-mock members! Or can you?
