Lone Wanderer Not necessarily a "dollar store" find, but the local comic shop I frequent sells nearly everything from action figures, Magic to LaserDiscs and Vectrex machines. I've been going for so long that the cashiers will just give me shit for free because the owner buys way too much junk!

Today I bought a mint Ghostbusters 2 RPG for $5 and over thirty uncommon Magic cards. I got 2 DVD's and the original Gran Turismo for free.

Lone Wanderer Dollars stores are so much wackier in the U.K., they sell porn DVDs!

Zhukov I'm doubly not surprised; Yu-Gi-Oh originated from Angola.

Bucket I actually just got back from the dollar store today, and found Yu-Gi-Oh cards from the first edition set in Portuguese (not surprised, I live near a city with a large Portuguese population.) .JOGOS DE CARTÃO DE MOTOCICLETAS!
Last year I was in another dollar store with my friend while we were waiting for a pizza, and when we saw a bunch of barnyard kitchen decor, there was a ceramic rooster soap pump.

Tadao As a person who thinks he knows a lot about everything, it's perfectly safe for kids to eat.

These are as sour as warheads, and they seem to be about the same price per candy. Plus you get that awesome container.
hey wait, are those actually dangerous? like, could/should younger kids eat them?

Kitsa I love those Chinese booths at flea markets that are just a bunch of boxes on the ground to poke through. I collected engrish before it was cool and used to have a ton of it. I've bought breast-shaped stress reliever balls (still have a bunch of them in a box somewhere), Benign Girl everything (funny to us cancer patients), and all sorts of bowls and notebooks that say bizarre shit. I have a set of bowls that say "STRAWBERY, THE SWEET FRUIT IN THE WORLD."

Last time I went, I got a cheapo umbrella hat for my kid (it broke the first time I tried to open it, and even after repairs it's so flimsy I'd never leave it on her for long), some weird washcloths with strange sayings on them (and a label that said DESIGN AND MADE IN US OWN FACTORY IN CHINA).

I also have a big collection of notebooks that usually have Barbie or knockoff cartoon pictures on the cover and are either a bunch of random words or things that must have been taken from greeting(s) cards. On one, Barbie hugs a teddybear as the text reads, "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. I am so sorry for your loss". Another has a Paddington Bear ripoff holding a rose with a t-shirt on that says SAMPLE TEXT.

And so on.

I must take photos of these things someday.

Zhukov I don't see the really hot warheads around anymore. I can understand why they got rid of them, but I used to love wasting my pocket money on lollies I wouldn't even finish.

Fathom Zero Yup, I've seen 'em at candy stores. They're pretty good.

Tadao Sadly, they would feel prouder about their crap and raise it a dollar.
Apr 3rd, 2011 05:31 PM
captain516 I'm totally up for that. I just don't think I can deal with the looks people give me as I photograph their stuff.

Mockery Yeah, this thread could probably be expanded to be about anything cool or odd you found in any store / yard sale / flea market rather than just the dollar store.

All Hail Duke someone should put up a garage/yard sale finds

Shadowdancer21b "Throw Gunfire from the Train". Wow, old comics taking ideas from DeVito movies. Who woulda thunk it?

SupraGenius Those oysters are delicious, though. Don't poke fun at food that just seems strange, give it a try. It's an adventure! Makes me want to post some of my stranger food adventures. Though, if it said smoked "oysters" I'd be a little worried. I find completely random stuff in dollar generals and family dollars all the time. I'll take some cruddy pictures on my phone next time.

Waitaminnut.. Rand? As in Ayn Rand? And Steve Ditko was an objectivist...
Coincidence?...or conspiracy?

Sorry. I went to another dollar store in town, and it was disappointing. I thought I was gonna find all sorts of cool stuff, considering how packed the shelves were, but nope. It was all boring stuff like belts and spray bottles.

Kitsa He kind of looks like Inuyasha with an extra-meaty thigh.

Honestly I'd been happy with it just, you know, unfolding on it's own.

Yeah, Thor is already looking pretty rough after just soaking in some water.

Edit: Robo_rob it looks like smoked oysters' oil got on your t-shirt. Eww.
