Dr. V SARS? Anyway, I'm glad to see you're doing good. Also glad to see you're doing your part for the US of A. Keep up the good work pal. Best wishes.

DamnthatDavid Well... we did have a SAR case today, (search and Rescue) but it inturrupted our Fuseball Tournament. The winner would 2 days off... giving the average CG member 12 working days for a entire month.

My team had to fold due to time.

Jan 18th, 2007 12:08 PM
kahljorn I've known alot of people who were going to be Alaskan fishermen :O it's supposed to be one of the most dangerous jobs. If you fall overboard you die in the freezing waters :O

noob3 do you ever catch frozen bodies

filled with crabs
Jan 18th, 2007 04:19 AM
Mike Well you probably won't have to worry about that too much next B season because they have an estimated 60% of the spawn rate on their side.
Jan 16th, 2007 10:19 PM
DamnthatDavid haha, the reason the Coast Guard isn't in American fishing waters is because we are busy chasing the Russians fishing fleet away. It is standard policy to chase them all the way back until the Cutter can spot the Russian Homeland.
Jan 15th, 2007 04:14 PM
Dr. Boogie Don't worry, Mike, I'm sure they'll let you be on the next season of Deadliest Catch.

Mike Well if they ever do, I'll be grateful. But until I actually see the US coast gaurd out in crabbing waters, I'll assume they're too busy learning to tie ropes in the harbor, or regulating lunch breaks.

DamnthatDavid Mike's pissed cause it's the United States Coast Guard saves his arse when the waves get to scary. Boo-hoo! SAVE US!

Jan 14th, 2007 09:33 PM
Mike You actually get to work a lot more than that. Snow king isn't the only thing that pays.

Yeah, considering you get to work half the year, so it's really working out to $7500/month.

GADZOOKS They should change Chuck Noriss Facts to Mike Facts.

Mike is so tough that he catches crabs by giving them a dirty look.

Mike What do I do? It's actually similar to what you do in that it also involves the sea but it's pretty different. I'm a part-time crewmember on a fishing and crabbing boat off the Aleutian islands in Alaska (part-time because no one is full-time if they like staying alive). Doesn't sound like much but it's probably the hardest job in the world especially during snow king crab season because everyone is frozen, sleep deprived and fighting over the same zone and the weather isn't exactly user-friendly. And the rest of the time I work construction and wish my college education was worth more than a piss in a stiff wind.

Unlike you I don't talk about my job all the time and act like I'm a fuckin navy seal, but you asked so there it is. Seems to me that all your letters-home type posts would mean a lot more if you weren't actually STILL AT HOME.

The coast guard gets a bad rap because it's not on the front lines fighting the terrorists or the nazis. Don't try to compare apples and oranges. They face their share of shit, drug lords, criminals, sea monsters.

And just what, may I ask, do you do that makes you so fucking special?
Jan 14th, 2007 12:17 AM
GADZOOKS Don't mess with Mike, he's a hardass.
Jan 13th, 2007 11:17 PM
Chojin Yeah, it's a lot easier to protect American shores when you're in the Middle East.
