Rongi "I think I fucked your girlfriend last night. Maybe twice, I don't remember. Then I fucked all your friend's girlfriends, and now they hate you."

Calm down Mark . Zen Arcade is kinda a concept album. It's about a kid that runs away from a fucked up home and finds out the world is just as fucked up as it was at home.
I'll give you a CONCEPT

Songs about Fucking

I have and I still think it's a pretty good album ... not so much because of the lyrics but because it was a transitional album for Rush from straight ahead rock to progressive rock. It was musically experimental and interesting. It was a turning point for the musical direction the band was taking at the time. As I indicated earlier, a concept album doesn't necessarily have to do with the lyrical concept/theme. In this case, the lyrics weren't really the most interesting part to me. Is that better, Helm?

Helm The only reason people mention 2112 as one of their favourite concept albums is because either they've never read the lyrics or it's just an easy concept album name to remember. Or both, possibly. Anyway, it sucks greatly. And I sorta like Rush. But you can only take a shitty story so far. And it ain't that far.

Oh since we're mentioning ISIS, Oceanic deserves to be in my list of favourite concept albums.

King Diamond is great for comedic value, but he can't write a decent story for shit and he's been trying for the better part of what? 20 years?

Oh, the latest SIGH is great too and umm... well.

BlueOatmeal I can't get enough of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. That has to be the best cd I've bought in a long time.

crash0814 I've heard that Pavement's "Wowee Zowee" is about the disintegration of the pop song. It kind of makes sense when you listen to it, because the songs start out fairly straightforward and get progressively weirder as the album moves along.

KevinTheOmnivore I'm getting deja vu. Didn't this subject come up in the 119th thread about Radiohead.....? [/i]

Royal Tenenbaum As much as I love Radiohead, I agree about Thom to a degree. Morrissey could beat up Thom Yorke.

Drew Katsikas As much as Radiohead is a pretty solid band in an age of a bunch of shit in the mainstream, I can't stand Thom. He's such a pansy ass fake boy that it drives me nuts. He caters to 20 something liberal American college kids so blatantly that it's sickening, and it kind of deters me from their music.

Example: He only talks about American politics. He's contantly bitching about W., never once have I heard a word by him on Blair. Reason: America is where his fanbase is. He's clearly in the buisness for fame and money. He makes his songs easy to digest for Americans. Dollars and Cents. Great tune, but why not euros and pence, or whatever. Granted, he mentions those later in the song, but it seems contrived to mention foreign currency. At a concert, everyone started flipping out when he screamed "bring down the government" in No surprises, and he bowed to the crowd. That's just immature. Lastly, he raved about Michael Moore, and how brave he is. Come on, Thom knows well that eveyone of his fans is a Moore fanboy, and he's again just catering to them. In my own school, all the younger 20 something teachers like the guy, but the older liberal teachers realize he's full of shit. Thom constantly does shit like this, and it really irks me. Not to mention his phony I'm a tortured weirdo insomniac look he goes for. It's pretty obvious when he gets cover shots on Spin and all the other mags he ruffles his hair and tries to look like he's insane and sleep-deprived. I could say more, but I don't even feel like getting into it.

Kid A

That's what I'd heard

According to Rolling Stone, Kid A is the name of the first cloned child. I'm not sure what their source was. I don't know if Thom or anybody hinted at that.
Dec 21st, 2003 12:55 AM
EverythingWillSuck I think Kid A is about clones or something.

I just have the cardboard book version.

Dec 21st, 2003 12:39 AM
Rongi Thom said something like "Kid A is like looking at a fire out in the distance. Amnesiac is like being in the fire" once.

As much as I like Kid A, I'm not interested enough in finding what it's about.
Dec 21st, 2003 12:35 AM
crash0814 Looking at the lyrics, that's not a theme that immediately jumps out at me.
Dec 21st, 2003 12:32 AM
Rongi This could be totally wrong but I read somewhere that it's about looking at a fire from far away

As for my favorite...fuck, I dunno. Let's go with "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness." Also, I didn't know Kid A is a concept album. What's it about?
