lovely09 I still go to the library at school but most of the time i go to a computer and type the words i'm looking for.No dust that will harm our health but we should not forget how a library serves us before for the information we need.

I want one of those things. Someone tell me I am not making this up.
You're not, it's THE SMARTPEN. Of course, there are other ones. This isn't the one I remember seeing in commercials. http://www.livescribe.com/

It's for people who take down notes at lectures and stuff. It records the lecture and also saves what you write on internal memory so you can upload your handwriting to your computer. Also, when you click the pen IRL on a word that you wrote, it plays what it recorded at the time of you writing that.

I want one of those things. Someone tell me I am not making this up.

Yeah grrrr it also makes me angry when people order pizza for delivery because they're too lazy to go to the pizza place and bring it home themselves.

Evil Robot Can I customize with with my favorite ring tones that I pay for with the built in credit card reader? Can I apply "skins" to it to express my individuality? If I shove it up my ass will I shit it out clean? Does it have a bluetooth cockroach to jam in my ear like tinfoil hat wearing mental patient?

Dimnos However it downloads them its still an overpriced brick.

Fathom Zero Ummmm

No.

The Kindle uses Sprint's network to download any content, be it one of Amazon's books or a pared down web site. And it does it at no charge to the one whom purchases it. The costs for using the network are taken in along with the ~$300. The kit and kaboodle's probably worth far less. Probably not even half. And it has no Wifi. It doesn't need it.

It uses an e-ink display. This new tech that lasts a while and just barely sips away at battery life. It also has the potential to display things even when power is not applied, saving what you've been reading.

It's a neat bit of kit, but you'd have to kill me before this'd be my go-to for information and books. It can never replace a book, or at least the novelty of tactile pages.

Dimnos Its been around for about 2 years now. Its mostly popular among people with to much money as the device itself costs something like $300 and that is all it does. Which is stupid because I think the coolest feature it has is wi-fi. That way you can download books while you sit in the Starbucks at your local Barnes & Noble and stick your nose up at the people buying books on the archaic medium that is paper.

Zhukov Two of my favourite books. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Also, I hope that Kindle thing doesn't take off because I would hate reading a book off of a screen.

Evil Robot I have something like that kindle thing, I call it a computer.
Jul 21st, 2009 03:10 PM
Dimnos Yeah I thought that was an odd choice myself.

Dimnos Its a device that you can use to download digital copies of books to and read. Its kind of like iTunes for literature. You pay however much for a book, download it to your device then read it. I dont actually own one so I cant explain it much beyond that. iPhone users can download a Kindle app. that basically turns their phone into one as well.
