Colonel Flagg Doesn't that cake count? It looks like it eats like a meal, anyway.

darkvare mmm i'm gonna tell my sis to use your jello trick
Jul 3rd, 2010 01:28 PM
Kitsa here's your cutaway, zhukov.

I like the jello thing a lot because it keeps the cake really moist. Basically, you take a cooled cake, punch it all over with a fork, mix up a batch of jello and pour it over the cake, then chill it till the jello sets. My aunt used to do it when I was a kid, it's nothing sophisticated, but it works.

Mr. Kitsa decided he didn't like the cake because it looked like sour cream and cheese instead of vanilla icing and coconut. I told him that he should have thought of those things before he got with someone who does food art.

MarioRPG This is pretty awesome. Just saying.

Kitsa Thanks, I don't think it would send well though. Especially in the summer and whatnot.

Pentegarn, you continue to be a lol a minute.

Wiffles You gonna mail the cake? It looks adoralicious <3

Pentegarn Good plan, but Kitsa's married and I don't think she would have....

Wait, you mean a piece of cake don't you?

My bad

10,000 Volt Ghost I was in Cleveland on wednesday. I should have trekked further for a piece.

Kitsa it's tinted coconut and yes, it does look a lot like cheese.

You put food coloring in warm water, then add the coconut. It won't work without the water, won't be consistent.

Thanks.

Evil Robot Is that shredded chedar cheese? It really looks like cheese.

VaporTrailx1 cake
Jul 2nd, 2010 12:59 PM
Kitsa Thank you. Not counting the coconut-tinting process, he took about 10 minutes, maybe a little less. I just scattered the coconut in a vaguely correct shape, piped the melted chocolate where that went and trimmed the fruit leather with a paring knife.

I'll do a cutaway piece tonight when I get back home to it...or tomorrow morning at the latest.

10,000 Volt Ghost Hahaha. Kitsa, that is the most badass cake ever. I'm deeply honored. How long did it take? My friend does screen printing for onesies so I'm going to get a 10 k volt ghost onesie.

Zhukov Show us a cut-away slice!

Kitsa
Hey 10,000V, here's your cake

I was planning on it sucking way less than this, but things go a little differently when you've got a screaming baby in the background. You'll find that out soon enough.

It's a vanilla cake with orange jello swirls. The ghost is orange coconut, the yellow is tinted white chocolate, eyeballs are craisins and the eyebrows are fruit leather.
