Womti I work at this place called "That's Entertainment" the starting wage was $6.50, now I get a whole $10.00 after working there for like 2 years. I also work at an auto parts shop weekends.

Tara Oh God. I hope those people don't post here. They all sound like screen names to me.

Cutiepie has merit though. 0-5 hours a week means she's pretty cool in my book.

Baby Huey was not kept on past Christmas, because she was worthless.

Beepo is actually a REALLY good worker when not around bad influences, so he stayed. I worked with just him and a manager last week. The manager had the flu and spent most of the time throwing up (I saw him only when I needed more change for my register), so it was just me and Beepo running the show, and he did a great job.

Cutiepie is in the same boat I was in last year; On the schedule, 0-5 hours a week. She's definitely a good worker too.

Porkchop is on everyone's shit list. Currently, she told two others employee to tell the manager that she quit. But if she doesn't come in and tell them herself, she isn't quitting, she's fired for not coming into work.

Basically, she's an attention whore who (I hope to god) acts stupid to be the center of attention. And when she's on, the friends she's on with just goof off with her. So when she's gone, things will be fine again.

Actually, the last time I worked with her, we were using heat guns to take the security tags off the video game cases (to put new ones on). They pretty much wanted me to never let her out of my sight, so that she wouldn't burn herself. She did. She also used the heat gun to see if it would melt her Kit-Kat bar. It did. But then she tried to eat it, only to realize that using the heat gun on things makes things hot, and she burned her tongue with a melted Kit-Kat.

She then proceeded to sing along with Hakuna Matata... then asked me what Hakuna Matata meant.

But the store is good again. Barely any customers. We spent the last two hours of work tonight talking about how awesomely bad Saved by the Bell was.

Bod I've been to college more times than you can say "crap wages" but still I get paid peanuts. Am realising that i'm a fool, doing the job of a senior designer for years in the hope of no longer being paid as a mac-monkey. I am such a dumb-ass. Am now working to rule, paid as a monkey, work as a monkey. See how long until I get sacked.

Am looking for aonther job btw.

AChimp LOL. There was only a 13 cent difference between the CDN and US dollar a few days ago.
Feb 8th, 2006 04:42 PM
Sethomas But that's Canadian, right? So, you're really making $0.34/hour.

And James is my age.

DamnthatDavid My job started at 8.50 an hour.

But due to after Christmas low points, I work only 11-20 hours a week

Tara Stay in school and invest in your career. Leave the menial jobs to the people under twenty.
Feb 8th, 2006 10:25 AM
AChimp Why do you expect more when you guys are working at places that are known for only paying minimum wage? You're basically saying, "I work as a grunt at this fast food joint, but I want to make $20/hour doing it!" :/
Feb 8th, 2006 09:43 AM
Lingering Haze Only do just enough work to validate the money they pay you. If you do more than that, for instance acting like a manager when you are not a manager, then you are just a fool.

Comrade Rocket When i worked at the bowling alley it was tough because within 3 months of working there i was the second oldest employee. I bascially ran the place and had to deal with customers and all the little internal drama between the co-workers. I had to train the newbies and keep the place together. I was technicly a manager because the management we had was a bunch of drunks who could give a flying fuck about the customer. I worked there for a year and 7 months...

and never got a raise

P.S. I got a friend of mine a job at this alley. He did nothing and within two months he was making more than me.
Feb 8th, 2006 02:54 AM
Sam I work at a warehouse/gardening supply shop.

The suckiest thing I do is probably dealing with my idiotic co-workers. Other then that it's shoveling bat guano into buckets during the summer time, because if you get sweaty the guano just sticks to you and makes you look a different color. :/ And it reeks.
Feb 8th, 2006 02:47 AM
James Where do you work, and how much does it suck?
Feb 8th, 2006 02:15 AM
Sam At my job I started at $7.50, at about half a year I got a fifty cent raise and just a couple months ago I got a $1 raise. (and I'll have been working there for 2 years at the end of March. :/)

But I don't get to spend my days around toys.

I got a raise at work!

I'm now making MINIMUM WAGE!

I got my review at work (two months late), and I was basically looking at a 15 cent raise. So that's $7.40/hour. I know, I know. I can finally buy that mansion I had my eye on.

However, two months after I should have gotten my review/raise, the new minimum wage went UP to $7.40/hour.

So I worked at a place for over a year, only to be rewarded by getting the same pay as someone who worked there for a month. My review was submitted with the suggestion that I get $7.55/hour (a raise on top of the new minimum wage), but it could very well be turned down.

Not the end of the world (especially with the hours I have; We're basically talking about an extra $1.50-$3.00 a week), but I can't help but feel a little cheated. I mean, you do a good job at work, you're supposed to be rewarded for it, right?

On the plus side (maybe), it appears I could become an assistant manager in the near future, if I want to. We already have 3, but if something could be worked out, that would mean more hours and more pay.
