Dimnos I mostly run XP on my machine at home but have Ubuntu installed just in case windows decides it wants a day off. Ubuntu installed faster and easier than any version of windows I have ever seen. The only thing keeping from deleting windows off my box and never looking back is that linux just wont play games. Yeah it has some good games but most major release titles wont run on it.

kahljorn yea i never really had a problem with linux ;/ in fact most of them are about as easy to install as windows, if not easier/faster. and that was when i played around with it years ago, I can only imagine it has gotten easier.
Plus they are more fun!

Fathom Zero I've been on an internet vacation. Forgot I even wrote this.

And after you learn something new, because it is, y'know, new, you'll know it, and it won't be any more "getting it to work" than any other Windows machine.

At least, that's the way it is for me. I can use the command line to do a lot more now, when I'd just be lost before. I can install Linux and put every program, codec, or whatever on it in the same amount of time it took me to install and do the same with Windows 7.

any os where getting it to work is the entire point of having the os in the first place seems kinda counterproductive

They do reviews on hardware and help out with drivers and stuff. It's an awesome resource. If you're into free Linux junk like me.

Jesus, I'm a nerd.
