Mockery Yeah, I've got a MIDI controller for it:

The M-Audio Axiom 25

It's a great lil' MIDI controller that does the job for me (it's what I used to do all the music on Trick-Or-Treat Adventure Quest). I have messed with assigning the knobs to stuff like you're describing, but honestly, I mainly do most of my controlling/alteratons in Ableton Live itself. I hardly even use those handly knobs for anything. Only buttons I really even need to use on the Axiom other than the keyboard and drum pads are the pitch buttons. But I guess that really just comes down to what kind o' music you're doin.

I also have a Korg Triton Pro-X that I'd LOVE to hook up with Ableton, but don't have the desktop space for it at the moment because of all the other shit on my desk (which is why I bought the space-saving Axiom), so that bad boy remains tucked away in the closet. One day I'll take my old Triton friend out again, and ohhhhhh the sounds we will make.

soundtest Do you use a MIDI controller with it Rog? I'm using an old Novation Bass Station keyboard with it and assigning knobs, but I've been toying with the idea of picking up one of these dedicated Ableton MIDI controllers just for maximum knobage control:

One super fun thing to do is assign a bunch of different effects or parameters to a single knob. You can get some nutty effects that way. I've also just started assigning keyboard shortcuts to trigger clips. I wish I didn't have a job so I could play with this shit all day.

EXACTLY. I love how easy it is to use, but at the same time it's very powerful. You couldn't pay me to use a different sequencer.

For Linux seq24 is a great MIDI-only sequencer - rock solid timing and totally geared for live use. I was unimpressed with the rest of the Linux offerings, not to mention the massive headache and time involved getting any of it to work properly. If I recall correctly, one of the big sequencers on Linux is Rosegarden, but I found it highly unstable.

Fathom Zero I wondered about Linux because I have it on hand in case I can't get my hands on Mac OS for a while and the iBook may not come with it.

I will definitely look into Ableton Live.

I know and love Multiquence for the PC, but I was wondering if anybody knew of one for Linux or OSX. I buying an iBook soon and it'd be cool to make music wit it.
