Emu If you want an RPG to be hard, try going through it with one character.
Dec 14th, 2006 11:51 AM
timrpgland That can be said for alot of RPGs not just Square games. The RPG genre isn't generally known for its difficulty.

Angryhydralisk One thing that amuses me about Square games (Except a dire handful) and post Square-Enix Enix games is the difficulty...If those games had selectable difficulties'd probably resemble something like the following:

-Pussy
-Wimp
-Very, VERY easy

and the super-unlockable

-Mildly challenging, yet still insulting difficulty

Pub Lover I've unlocked the ship, so now I'm going around eveywhere to check that I've found all the minimedals before moving onto the west continent.
Dec 12th, 2006 05:25 PM
timrpgland Well, you'll have to deal I guess or stop playing. How far are you? Took me something like 90 hours to finish the game.

Annoying that I can't upgrade Jessica's defense without her over-ample chest bursting out everywhere, & while I can take out any monster with the other three, having to waste mp resuscitating her is annoying.

timrpgland Dragon Quest VIII is pretty much always easy although the added dungeon adds a little value. That game is more about length... If you think it's annoying though, I can't relate. Big fan of that game all the way through.

Trode is the man.

Pub Lover Esuohlim told me to play Earthbound, so I did, but I stopped when they turned into robots because Cybermen have always scared me.

Anyone played Dragon Quest VIII? When does this game stop being super easy & annoying?

ArrowX Earthbounds combat system is what turned me off, It was great up until I actualy fought something then, I thought to myself that "this is shit, I'm on a SNES here" I found out later that it was a Famicon game so I may try it again with that in mind.

Lenor hahha.. I could quite possiably top that list by tripple amount of games ive played and beat.. but no need to show off.. haha..

anyways.. best RPG EVER .. FF7 ..

Esuohlim What turns me off about RPGs is that most of them have a medieval theme that I'm not too crazy about, what with armor, swords, magic, castles, and stuff. Earthbound is great because you're kids in the '90s going through actual cities with pizza shops and department stores and trying destroy aliens, creepy cults, possessed tents, and hieroglyphics.

timrpgland Earthbound is so overrated guys (me 4-5 years ago).

That game has a strange history for me. I remember not liking it when it came out and beating down my friend's cousin for thinking it was cool. I only began to appreciate it when I played it again as a adult.... it's normally the opposite.

I'm working on NWN2 but I don't know, I just can't seem to get into it that much. At least not as much as the first one.

I want another KOTOR badly and DQIX was anounced for the DS. Can't wait.

Esuohlim It's getting close to Earthbound time for me again. Hey ArrowX why don't you try Earthbound because I don't like a lot of RPGs myself and this game is awesome-o

timrpgland I beat FFXII last week. Very good game that unfortunately builds itself up for nothing.
Dec 11th, 2006 02:52 PM
thebiggameover im about to beat Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. want to beat it before i get a 360 on friday and never use my gba player again...
Dec 11th, 2006 10:16 AM
Angryhydralisk The only RPG I wish I could beat right now is Star Ocean 2. The last boss re-defines the word HARD. Final Fantasy hasn't got shit on him.

Oh, but anywho, the RPGs I beat?

Final Fantasy Tactics
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross

Final Fantasy Legend 2
Final Fantasy Legend 3

ArrowX Vanguard Bandits, awesome game, but I could never get past the one point where you escape from that guys castle in the desert and he sends is men after you, and you get helped by some dude in a dancing mech.

Also I've had Parasite Eve 2 for like 9 years but haven't actually beaten it. I get inside NeoArk and the game gets boring.

Emu Have you played any of the Lufia games? I'm playing the second one right now and it's pretty good

timrpgland No wonder... My alignment and charisma of my main character is 0.. He slaughters too much but I'm not going to change that so oh well.
Sep 25th, 2006 04:26 PM
kahljorn it's a pretty gay alignment system. If you kill people weakerthan you your alignmentdrops,if you kill retreating enemies your alignment drops.Pretty much the opposite for raising it.

timrpgland I have been marching through the SNES Ogre Battle. Had to use some air in a can but I finally got the game to work. I just finished map 7. I don't remember ever beating this game. I think Ogre Battle 64 is better but this one is fun. It's been a while since I played a Ogre game though, does anyone remember how the alignment system works in this one?
