Most of what I remember John Paul II doing and saying are the things I didn't agree with. However, wherever I make jokes about the pope, it's always because I the last ten years of his life or so should've been spent in retirement and rest, not actively on the job. I can understand Catholics and people who love the pope getting attached to the guy, but jesus (lol), if there's one person who's going to get a good spot in heaven, it's him, so let the guy die and have peace already. I always felt a mixture of pity and disgust when I saw him practically falling to pieces at some gathering. Also, I don't think Seinfeld's stand-up routines ever made me laugh, despite his TV show being brilliant. |

The delivery became a crutch though. I've seen him live. He did a full half hour and I really enjoyed the first 15 minutes or so, but the delivery wore thin on me. Quote:

Chojin | i'd hardly call mitch an observational comedian. he just made jokes about anything and then fired them off in rapid succession with no segues or anything. if his delivery hadn't been so good, no-one would have liked him to begin with because his format was ridiculous. Which is also why it's ridiculous to call him 'monotone', since his entirely act was based on delivery.

Chojin | i love how comedy retards refer to seinfeld like he's some sort of amazing pinnacle of hilarity to which all other comedians waste their careers attempting to parallel.

Dr. V | I never had any feelings toward the pope either way so I really don't care if he's dead or alive. He didn't lead my religion and my life isn't going to change as a result of his death. Sure it's sad and I feel bad for everyone who cared so much for him, but come on people, who didn't see this comming like 5 years ago?

I'm sure Jesus feels the same way. I'm not glad he died, for the record. |

I've lost so much faith in humanity today. so many people making fun of the pope, maliciously attacking him, after he had died. who the fuck does this? and people who say it's stupid to get upset about are full of shit. I understand the whole "aww, the pope is so cute" type shit people said when he was alive, but what I've heard from people after his death is nowhere near the same. fuck these people, it'd be worth prison just to remove their taint from the gene pool. |

The pope had a great career, accomplished a lot, then died from old age and everyone was sad but his life was basically a success. Mitch was just beginning to reach his dreams and then his drug use caught up to him and killed him early in life, and only a select few people care. So it's a little more personal with Mitch. Caring about the pope dying is like caring about Shiavo dying. Everyone is basically required to care. |

I hear ya, but I think you came to the wrong board for sympathy. Hey, speaking of no sympathy, you should go check out Christopher Hitchen's latest piece on Slate. It's guaranteed to make your blood boil..... |

Pope: (mumbles) Cardinal: The pope says that blessed is he who creates a cinnamon roll incense, for His Holiness has always wanted his roommates to wake up with false hopes. |
