No, using real money to buy virtual money - that's crazy.

Colonel Flagg We give charitable donations to organizations like MSF, Project HOPE, THe Carter Center, ASPCA, to our family members, and ask that they respond likewise. Less shit under the tree, and more goodwill towards human (and animal) kind

ZeldaQueen I think the problem was that things are way too over-the-top.

When I was a kid, Christmas seemed so easy. I just had to make my parents some popsicle-stick tree ornaments or something similar.

Last year, I noted that several girls in my class exchanged Christmas gifts of huge handbags and other such things.

Seems like there's a bit of room to cut out the excess.

Maybe instead of an anti-Christmas campaign, there should be a movement to get people to exchange handmade picture frames or ornaments. Probably be used just as much as the designer purses and they're a whole lot cheaper (and made with love).

Or cookies! Then at least you know they'll be used for something.

El Blanco I find this just as sad as the anti-Valentine's Day movements.

Honestly, if you don't want to buy people gifts, just don't. I've done it on years I'm in a bad financial situation. And even when I do buy gifts, its for my immediate family (or a girlfriend if I have one at the time). My friends and I all agree that if one of us wants something, he can buy it his or her damn self.

Jeez, do we really need rallies and t-shirts and shit to ignore something?

Pentegarn I gotta love the balls it takes to complain how "You know Christmas marketing is a scam, benefiting manufacturers, stores, and huge corporations, while driving individuals into debt." and then follows it up by asking you to buy t-shirts and give their site money

MetalMilitia I'm not buying any gifts this year and with a bit of luck I won't receive any either.

ZeldaQueen On one hand, I agree that the gift buying gets out of hand.

On the other hand, that's a totally insane and idiotic idea.
