pac-man | Oh... I mean, he's just campaigning. That's what politicians do. They're all full of it, naturally. Can't fault him for being good at it. |

Tadao | That's his gimick, not mine. I know he's full of shit, I'm just watching from the sidelines laughing at people who really believe in our chances too rule the govenment as a peoples. |

Tadao | Looks like Gore is backing Obama. I think this is a bad move. It's too late in the game to have this kind of bullshit going on. If he is going to promote himself as an agent of change, he needs to start doing something different already. |

MLE | At first I thought you said McClain, and I was all like "Why doesn't he just PM him?" |

Tadao | Yeah, I'm almost 38 and I barely remember the gas crisis. This is a dumb move on the republican side. |

I didn't read/hear about McCain saying that, but it doesn't completely surprise me. Carter's first term was disrupted by a troubled economy, an oil/energy crisis, and gridlock between he and congress over government spending. So, it's almost an understandable analogy by McCain. However, these are different times. Personally, I think it's a sign of what kind of old curmudgeon John McCain is; making reference to an administration that has been out of office for 30 years is not going to get any young voters on his side. What did President Carter do wrong? Some would say he did nothing wrong, others would say he did nothing, and that's what was wrong. OPEC caused the oil shortages, he couldn't stop that nor could anybody in his position at the time. The inflation and overall economic downturn that happened during his tenure was staggering, but again, he couldn't prevent it (oil prices, unemployment, etc. all in the wake of the war and Watergate) and his attempts to slow it down led to an inevitable recession. I've heard a lot of people label Jimmy Carter as a lame duck, so I guess he was more ineffectual than he was flat out wrong. |

2008 Candidate fight McCain is calling Obama another Jimmy Carter, saying he is running for Carters 2nd term. What exactly did Carter do wrong? I was too young to know really. |
