J. Tithonus Pednaud If anyone still cares, this site proves beyond doubt that the monsterpig images were digitally altered. http://66.226.75.96/pig/

Fathom Zero This has to be one of the fastest crumblings of a hoax I've ever seen.
Jun 3rd, 2007 03:27 AM
executioneer that is fucking revolting
Jun 3rd, 2007 12:54 AM
J. Tithonus Pednaud These details have been confirmed and the monster pig folks have come clean about it. As it turns out, the pig was not wild. It was a domestic pet - named Fred - sold to a hunting guide. The 'hunt' itself was caged, the animal was released and fenced.

executioneer yeah havent these guys seen old yeller

Fathom Zero To anyone who hasn't been chased by a wild pig before, they're fucking psycho. I'm amazed that fat little bastard isn't dead right now unless they had the thing on a leash.

A wild pig will not hesitate to gore you. In fact, they'd rather you be dead so they can eat you.
Jun 2nd, 2007 09:28 PM
J. Tithonus Pednaud I see that too - shame the article wasn't linked to my website.
Jun 2nd, 2007 06:37 AM
kahljorn Somebody should report those guys to PETA for unethical hunting.

I saw you got credit for that website find, that's cool.

Supafly345 Why isn't there a single photo of them on top of or leaning back on the pig. You would think a kid who killed a giant pig would climb up top it right off the bat.

J. Tithonus Pednaud I've got no problem with anyone killing anything. I'm a red meat man myself, I just take issue when people try to fool me - being a flimflam artist myself, once upon a time. I hate to see something so sloppy get so much attention. I also take issue with members of the media not taking 10 minutes to confirm a story. The fact that something as obviously deceptive as this got national and international press really says something about the journalistic integrity of the media. That's why my panties are in a bunch.

And, yes, there are much larger hogs on record - that's not my issue with the story. I can think of 5 or six pigs right off the top of my head that were bigger. Good Ol' Big Bill in the 1930's was the largest in history at over 2500 lbs. I used to deal in the unusual during my carnival talker days. Giant animal, small animals, animals with two heads and parasitic limbs. I've stood next to a 600 pound domestic pig a couple times in my life. There are very real things out there that make this hog look like a lightweight and there are also creatures lurking in the woods that I pray never come scratching at my pillow in the dead of night.

The issue here was that this animal is not nearly as large as claimed, that deception was used willingly and that this is likely a marketing ploy.

Kahljorn - I also noticed that part. I also noticed that the press release announcing the casting call was issued on the same day this monster pig news hit. It's a cash casting call, by the way, $20 to apply for a part. Thanks for reading that link.

kahljorn that website Pednaud posted pretty much proved that it's a hoax there was mathematical evidence on that website which I thought was hilarious that stated if the pig was the size it was supposed to be than the kid would have to be like 4 feet tall. They also had non-fraud pictures of them standing next to the pig and the father was almost as tall as it.

i doubt that fat kid even killed it. Like Pednaud said, it's doubtful a husky kid could run after a pig for hours. Those things run pretty fast, don't they?

Dixie Also as far as there being other pigs that size, there was a great special on National Geographic about Hogzilla and how there are other pigs that size and possibly bigger in the wild in that area. I doubt it's a complete hoax, things that big do indeed roam the south.
May 31st, 2007 12:21 PM
Dixie I see nothing wrong with killing that thing. It's a hazard to the environment, it destroys indigenous wildlife and plants and could/would kill any creature (including humans) that wanders in it's path. Wild pigs or boars are extremely dangerous and ill-tempered. Remember that pigs are not a native animal and in the wild are something akin to the infamous snakehead fish with thier impact on the surrounding environment.
Also it's not like he just killed it and buried it, they at least are using it for meat and mounting it so it's not like the creature was wasted and killed for no reason.
Even if the size is exaggerated, it's still a big son of a bitch so arguing over the fact of it being slightly bigger or smaller doesn't matter. It's still a huge animal and that kid has every right to be proud of his kill.
I don't get the whole thing where everyone is ragging on that kid for killing it. So what if he's a redneck kid? That doesn't matter either. I just don't understand why people have thier panties in a twist over this thing.

kahljorn I was just talking to my girlfriend today about how this is probably a hoax ;o

did you notice on that page that it says he has been casted in the hogzilla movie?
May 31st, 2007 12:41 AM
J. Tithonus Pednaud Please don't call me Tit. The proper abbreviation of my name is Ty, or just J if you must. But, like I've said I'm willing to accept all of this as is, as I make my living talking about the damn near impossible, but it is highly suspect. It seems as though I'm not the only one who smells a hoax.

FartinMowler I don't think your qualified to be a Dick yet Tit so calm down with those accusations, Rednecks never lie and pigs get mighty big and stinky.

Girl Drink Drunk Woulndt be surprised if they fabricated a few stories themselves.
May 29th, 2007 02:19 PM
kahljorn Hasn't fox news been taken in by hoaxes before?
May 29th, 2007 12:55 PM
Girl Drink Drunk Don't be ridiculous. Why would a credible news source like Fox News run a story like this if it was such a blatant hoax?
May 29th, 2007 01:50 AM
J. Tithonus Pednaud My point was, this is clearly an Indy marketing ploy to promote the upcoming Hogzilla film.

The whole registration of the monsterpig site and the Hogzilla site on the same day is a big tip to that. A HUGE tip is the fact that Hogzilla production company put out press releases and casting calls - the SAME DAY all of this media attention really took off (May 26). That is some luck!

The entire 'monsterpig' situation is highly questionable. The site promotes the film - it features a hyper link and logos. It posts both positive and nasty negative comments (who would do that? Preserve such feedback when an 11 year old is involved) which further raises questions. Furthermore:

1. The images are obviously misleading (thus putting the entire story into question)
2. The details of the story are very dubious. An obviously 'husky' 11 year old chased a hog for hours?
3. Witnessed by many, but not a single testimonial?
4. No official weighing or official measurements for what would be a world record animal?
5. Destruction of the evidence. The meat of the animal was made into sausage, thus an official weighing is impossible.
6. The animal is being mounted, however, it will only be a shoulder mount?!?! So, the dimensions can never be confirmed.

Insane!

It's a standard, if large, Duroc pig shot in a manner to look far larger than it actually is. This is a marketing ploy that has become far more successful than ever anticipated. If it isn't, it is the mother of all coincidences.

Hogzilla, by the way, was proven to be of dimension far lesser than originally reported. The NGS confirmed that the pig was 800 pounds and 7.5 feet long (compared to the hunters claim of 1000 pounds and 12 feet).

MetalMilitia Hogzilla was a different pig. Specifically this one:
