ziggytrix well the guy running the lip-synch DAT is part of the band, and he fucked up, so she wasn't lying.

James Here's where hilarity continues.

In the interview, she said she was suffering from GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE, and she couldn't even speak (she spoke fine in her shit apology at the end of the show). Then she said for tonight, she got a cortisone shot to make her feel better so she could perform.

HOWEVER, cortisone isn't a solution, it increases risk for the disease to occur. http://www.siu.edu/~shp/HealthEd/GERD.html

She's dumber than her sister. Just fucking admit you were using a lip synch track that night. Don't make excuses, don't blame others. Just say "Things fucked up," and be done with it. Everyone who is trying to do damage control is just making this even bigger. And I fucking love it. It's like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

James Here's where hilarity starts:

People have been impersonating her on her boards, modifying accounts with javascript to match her actual name on there. And MTV took those quotes to actually be from her.

Since then, they apparently did a phone interview with her, though.

"I was so upset," she said, "because I have never done that before. But my voice wasn't strong enough. I couldn't even speak."
She seemed to be speaking fine while explaining the whole thing at the end of the show.

Although she'd initially blamed her band, Ashlee Simpson took full responsibility Sunday for her lip-synching snafu on "Saturday Night Live," saying that her voice was ragged from too much work.

"I can't cancel something like 'SNL,' " she said in a post to her official Web site. "You and I know that even if I synched on it or not, I'd still get seen by millions, maybe even make a few more fans. I'll hold my head high and say I think it was silly of me to do it, silly of me to blame the band, I was just so f---ing embarrassed. But I don't think it did me much harm, and people will see that soon."
Well, at least she admitted that it was stupid of her to blame the band for it...

But after they turned off the vocal track, she COULD have stayed and sang the song that the band was playing instead. But since she didn't, it makes me wonder if she can really sing at all.

James Don't forget the dancing.

Daphne See, it's not really the lip-sync that's the deal here, it's the fact that she blamed it on her BAND......that and it's hilarious that she spoke out against it in an interview.
Oct 25th, 2004 04:48 PM
timrpgland That was great but what's new? It'd be more of a contraversy if she actually sang the songs live. Don't most people have it on mute when watching these pop singers anyway?

I hate Ashley Simpson

ScruU2wice the only thing in life you can trust is the swiftness of the internet.

James She apparently has an appearance somewhere in New Jersey later this week. I THINK some Something Awful Goons are planning to crash and bust into Hoedown Mode. I didn't read the whole thread, but I really hope it happens.

Some talkshow host should invite her over, then when they're in the middle of a conversation, the show's music suddenly starts playing and the host, crew and audience all start doing the Ashlee hoe-down. It'd be cruel, but funny in that ha-ha it-happened-to-Ashlee-Simpson way.

FS I thought it was fairly professional of the band to just keep playing. When you're live on TV there's no time run off stage and complain to Mr. Director that your whole act got ruuuuiiiined

I don't believe any pop singer never lipsyncs, especially when they claim they never do.

Still funny.

James I'm sure though that in an "unfortunate accident" she'll find her skull to be on the receiving end of a guitar. Especially when the "damage control" results in the band being fired to continue the appearance that THEY are to blame.

For the apology part, be sure to watch for Jude looking at her with the "WTF" look.

I also hope that for years to come, there will be a joke about doing a jig in a time of crisis/panic.
