Generic Oreos. I have no shame.

And coffee. Gotta have coffee. :hypno

I just got back from the local OMG-good Mexican restaurant. I had Combo #5 (the Kitsa Especial) - modified to meatless tastes- 2 cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, shredded lettuce. And a giant freaking iced tea. I told them I wanted the biggest one they had.
I'm-a gonna splode. |
Revenge, served cold.
|
The pizza was cold and hard, but IRN BRU is always good. |
home made rice krispy treats
|
I tried to eat some brown rice, but it must have been stale- it was disgusting. Threw that away and had a bowl of frosted mini wheats instead. Not the chili I was wanting, but I've accepted that I'm not going anywhere this weekend.
|
Just ate a nice thick, medium rare steak with cheesy potatoes. One the best meals I've had in some time.
|
I am sipping on a combination of raspberry-flavored tea and some Yoga dietary supplement tea that doesn't say a flavor on the package but is sort of skunky. I basically threw the bags together in a Mr. Coffee and turned it on. It worked.
The diet tea kills the acid flavor of the raspberry tea without affecting the sweetness, and at the same time the raspberry lends a nice flavor to the ass-tasting fasting tea. It's really, really good, and is hydrating my pre-hangover headache away, far beneath the misty mountains. |
Cream and pepper marinated chicken breast with sun dried tomato stuffing. Also pan fried potatoes. Washing it down with cheap beer.
|
oatmeal ;_;
|
I ate some of my leftover beer-chili and fell asleep for 2 hours. Unfortunately, I'm still tired :(
|
A cold reuben. :(
|
Making a huge batch of mashed potatoes (potato pancakes tomorrow morning if there are any leftovers), serving alongside a roast that's been cooking all day.

I should probably eat something at some point. But, dammit, I really want a candy bar :(
|
potato leek soup
|
Speaking of candy, I like butterfingers ^.^
|
I made do with a stale 3 Musketeers. It wasn't great. I'd been hoping they'd have twix in the vending machine.
|
Top Ramen with Shitake Mushrooms.
|
Darkvare did you make those tacos and if so how did you prepare the steak? thanks
|
"es carne de burro".
"it's nice to meet you, too!" From the simpsons where homer goes to Cuba. |
I love that episode.

I'm making mashed potatoes from scratch...just for my damn self. Well, me and the baby, but I feel so selfish.
|
a roma tomateh
|
well not really but i can tell you what to do for a nice steak khal first grab a beer, pepper, garlic, onion and any other spice you wanna use.
now grab some of the meat and put it in a big container making a layer, pour beer on it and sprinkle with all the spices, cut the onions in small pieces and put them in the meat do this with as many layers the amount of meat lets you, after that grab the meat and shake it and stir it for a while around 30 seconds and let it marinate for 2 hours or so if you wanna make it for tacos cut it in small squares before you cook it no oil necesary i'm gonna ask the man who did the tacos and tell you how to do it later |
beer and wine do amazing things to meat. Now you're making me want coq au vin :(
I stumbled across a recipe the other day for butterscotch pie...calls for real scotch. Must try that. |
oh yea that sounds like its about the recipe i use, except I use beer and some chicken broth usually.
I've never tried cooking it without oil though so I'll try that next time. Thanks. |
A burger created by the gods of gods
|
some lackluster chicken fried rice from an "Asian helper" mix. It doesn't taste very helpful. Matter of fact, it tastes like someone backed a dump truck full of sodium up to the pan.
|
Fresh chocolate chip cookies.
|
Got jalapeno poppers going in the oven. Trying to make up for some really shitty ones I had yesterday.
|
i love jalapeno' poppers
|
A red grapefruit that's a little bigger than a softball.
God damn, it's delicious. |
green fluffy stuff. Fan-freakin-tastic.
|
i am eating the stuff that chojin eats on his diet
it is delicious and makes me strong like my dad |
Yesterday I wanted something chocolate and all we had was a bag of chocolate chips. I was planning to eat about a handful, a few chips at a time, as I was watching TV in bed. (Slovenly and decadent, I know).
So I haul myself into bed, get all comfortable with the chip bag resting on my stomach, and try to open it. It's sealed up tight. I struggle with it for a few minutes before the middle seam tears and the bag explodes, chocolate chips flying everywhere. So then I'm grumbling, right, trying to find all the chocolate chips before they melt into the sheets and/or pillows and/or mattress. I think I've got them all rounded up and I throw them away, then give up on the chocolate chips and decide to take a nap instead. When I woke up, the chocolate chips that had evaded capture had melted all over me, making me look as if I'd rolled in shit. How embarrassing. Long story short, I'm never eating chocolate chips in bed again. |
:lol that made me almost piss myself laughing.

NUTTER BUTTERS
|
These are quite possibly the best chicken fingers I've ever had. They make burger and nuggs too. I also have some of their fish stickers home. Hoping they are of the same quality:) |
Shit was gooooood. :yum |
I'm getting hungry as a mofucker in here.

Jalapeno kettle chips. I think I have a new favorite snack food:love
|
I made mini peanut butter cookies with mini hershey's kisses on them.
The downside to mini cookies is that you feel like you're allowed to eat a lot more of them. |
i just ate mashed pottatoes with chesse and portk meat in delicious green sauce i swear i could drink that stuff as water
|
Punjab Choley with rice. It's good, but way too hot.
|
OMG that sounds yummy right now.

TIMS ARE BETTAR
|
Do you make your own?
I make my own chhole with chickpeas, onions, vinegar and various spices. It's damn tasty. |
No, It's from Trader Joes. I do wish I could make my own though. Do you just throw everything into a pot and let it simmer?
Willie, Tims are pretty sweet, but no way are they the best. |
I dry-roast the spices in a pan until I can smell them, then add olive oil and onions and cook until the onions turn that curry-yellow color. Then I add the chickpeas and a little bit of vinegar and let it simmer for quite a while.
I eat mine cold. It's good with chives on it, too. |
What kind of spices do you use? I know that ginger is involved, as is garlic.
|
I make mine hotter and without as much sauce as you're probably used to, but this is mine:
I normally wing it and don't use a recipe, so I had to look up the last recipe I bothered to write down and give someone. 2 cans chickpeas/garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed very well in cold water 2 teaspoons olive oil 1/2 small onion, chopped fine 3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped fine fresh chives if available, I had to use dried ones but fresh are much tastier 1 teaspoon ginger root powder 1 teaspoon garam masala dash cumin seeds (because I had some handy, but I don't think they're essential) the juice of 1 lemon (halve and microwave it for a few seconds beforehand to make it easier to juice) Deep frying pan or shallow saucepan Dry-roast the seeds and garam masala over medium-high until fragrant, then quickly turn heat to medium and add oil, spreading it evenly over the pan. Once the oil is warm, add the drained chickpeas, onion and garlic and toss for a few minutes. Sprinkle ginger powder and dried chives over the chickpeas and stir to coat evenly. When the onions start to take on a golden-brown look and become somewhat soft, turn the heat down to medium-low and add the lemon juice. From there, I just let it simmer for an hour or so. If you're lucky enough to have fresh chives, add them in toward the end. You can eat it hot or do as I do and stick it in the fridge before attacking it. I love eating it cold. |
Thanks. I'll def give this a try.
|
no problem, adjust it up or down in spiciness as you see fit.
For what it's worth, I make aloo chaat pretty much the same way, only with potatoes, and I eat that cold too. |
we should have a recipes thread. I'm going to give that one a try soon too.
|
I should put my oreo ball one up. That's popular during the holidays, it's like chocolate crack.
|
make the thread, the people will come.
|
I would invariably get scolded by some crankypants who would be all THE RECIPES BELONG IN THE FOOD THREAD JEEZ
Oreo balls 1 package regular oreos (don't bother with the fancy color filling, it won't show up anyway) 1 block regular (not diet) cream cheese, room temperature melting chocolate of your choice (I use ghirardelli chips, my mom uses the special candymaking chocolate) mixer food processor double-boiling setup for melting chocolate - grind up the oreos to a fine powder in the food processor. It might take slightly less than a whole package (as in, go ahead and help yourself to four or six, it won't matter) -with the mixer on low, combine the powder with the cream cheese until it makes a consistently thick, dark paste. - roll the paste into balls the size of shooter marbles and lay them out on a piece of waxed or parchment paper. - melt your chocolate in the double-boil setup (so that it doesn't burn) and dip the balls however you see fit. As you finish dipping them, put them on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. When each batch is dipped, pop it in the freezer for a few minutes until the chocolate sets. Don't keep it in there for too long or the chocolate will crack. - I let mine come back to room temperature on cooling racks, then drizzle them with contrasting chocolate (orange for Halloween, blue for winter, or whatever). You can dip them in color chocolate or whatever you want. They'll keep at room temp, but you can refrigerate them. They don't usually last long enough for it to matter. |
You can get blue chocolate? :shock
|
There are those who would have you believe that I am the High Priestess of all that is blue and evil in food.
Bake shops and some craft stores will sell blue melting chocolate for candymaking. You can tint your own, but you have to be careful what food-color you use...anything water-based will cause the chocolate to separate and get grainy. |
Chorizo with rice and beans. Yeah, I know it looks like crap, but I assure you, it was delicious. |
A rotisserie duck, a shrimp sandwich, a bottle of Yakult, a jar of Arrogant Bastard, and a rice cake.
It's fucking delicious, by the way. |
steak and chanterelle mushrooms and onions + some garlic, red wine and a little yoghurt to deglaze the pan and make a nice sort of creamy sauce
THANKS AZN MARKET FOR HAVING CHANTERELLES AT ABOUT 1/3 THE PRICE THEY'RE SPOSED TO BE |
Chanterell mushrooms grow like wild fire on my island. I don't like mushrooms though unless they are the magic ones ya know what I mean LOLOL. nah but seriously, they are all over the place.
|
i don't like mushrooms either but chanterelles are a special case because they're effing delicious
|
off-brand cinnamon toast crunch

A glass of delicious guava juice.
It's fucking delicious, by the way. Pink fruits are the best fruits. |
Some chinese food that tasted dry as tits.
|
I had a gyro as big as my face yesterday. It was so delicious. I was pissed that I had to throw my leftovers away.
|
On Friday night, I asked for 3 of Arby's biggest roast beef sandwiches and an order of curly fries. The bringer was doubtful that I'd be able to eat more than one. I ate all three, and the fries. My only complaint was they forgot the sauce.
My appetite has been crazygonuts lately. |
The other day I had what is supposedly the best tasting dumplings in the world, the Xiao Long Bao from the restaraunt Din Tae Fung.
It was ok. |
I haven't been able to eat dumplings since seeing the movie Dumplings.
:( |
I'm not going to look that up on youtube, and I will continue to eat dumplings.
|
I finally tried Kitsa's recipe for Punjab Choley. It was pretty good. I didn't mind the different flavor at all.
|
Cool, glad it turned out ok.
I went to Red Robin for lunch and had a banzai burger, root beer and steak fries. I love their banzai burger, except it drips pineapple juice and teriyaki sauce everywhere :( |
Milksteak
|
I'm leaving for a japanese steakhouse in a few mins.
The bad thing about eating a hibachi dinner when you're allergic to something is that you worry about it being a downer for the others, the chef having to wipe off the grill after making the shrimp and serving yours separately and whatnot. |
I'm starving hungry. Someone suggest some food that I should track down and eat.
|
MARSHMALLOWS! :I
|
That's not quite going to fill the gap, I'm sorry. Still, I will go out and eat some I guess. Now I just have to get dressed and go out.
