I hate Linkin Park. Their asinine "my life's so hard" lyrics clash with the facts that 1) they're young and 2) they're succesful popstars, causing me to find them humorous at first and soon irritating.

Exactly. Musical aesthetics are subjective. You listen to it and you either like it or you don't. Your judgement could be based on any number of criteria but an "opinion" can never be wrong because it's true to you. I think that when you start talking about a band's sincerity, though, you're going beyond the realm of what's provided in the music. What you call sincerity can be faked easily enough.

the sincerity thing does have some basis. I mean, the original point of music was and still is to convey emotion. When i hear say N*SYNC i don't hear any emotion so it follows that the sincerity would be important. If someone just doesn't like a band, thats fine, but with such massive media acts i'd assume that almost everyone could come up with a reason either way for their opinions.

Anyhoo, I'm on niether a positive or negative side of Linkin Park. They are just like any old distant band that matters very little to me. I thought they were ok, but now they've disappeared, even meteora isn't being played in school and etc. like the older one.
