I would be willing to say DoA is THE best fighting game. This is because to be good at it you dont learn crazy combos or special moves. To be good at DoA you have to know and read your opponent very well. At least with good players anyway.
|
Oh and that video makes me drool with anticipation. :love
|
Yeah, it doesn't look like the graphics are hugely better from DOA4, from what I can tell. But the lighting looks great and supposedly they are going to try and make some great places to fight in also. I always loved the DOA multi-layered fighting arenas, riding people down stairs and such. Knowing your arena, knowing when to attack and when to counter and how exactly to counter each attack is critical. I just loved the game so much. I loved toying with people by laying on the ground as Brad Wong and they'd not know what to do unless they were good. It's pretty much the only fighting game I'm truly excited for right now.
|
Yeah, I really liked the Dead or Alive games; the countering system just seemed to work really well. Bayman was my character.
|
Didn't DOA make a lady wrestling game
|
Your probably thinking rumble roses, but no they didnt make that. They did however make Dead or Alive extreme beach volleyball that was surprisingly awesome.
|
Yeah that's the one, I thought the wrestler broad from the first DOA was in that game
|
![]() It actually was really good. Kevin Nash is ridiculous in it. |
I always bet on vidjamagame movies being bad.
Warmest regards, Super Mario Brothers the movie Double Dragon the movie Mortal Kombat 2 Street Fighter the movie All Uwe Boll movies |
I actually liked the Hitman movie. Was my favorite video game movie.
|
So I'm getting gears of war 3 coming in on Tuesday, but reading about it til then.. I just read that they are selling skins for weapons on day 1. I was kind of pissed about it seeing how they could have them as unlocks for doing good in the game. Then I saw that they had floral print and hot pink weapons. I'm probably going to end up buying those.
|
i think a lot of the colored guns are unlockable i have the golden retro lancer unlocked already thanks to the beta
|
Oh yeah, a lot of colored guns are unlockable, but then about 21 others are day 1 dlc.

So it turns out my Gears of War 3 disc shipped fucked up. It reads but freezes if it's been on a menu for more than 20 seconds. It also won't install to my system. Says the disc is scratched or dirty. So Amazon will send me a new one but it'll take 3 days. I am never buying games online again.
|
Yes because that's Amazon's fault and not in any way a manufacturing error.
I agree that that reaction is justified. Unless you're being sarcastic and making a joke. A shit joke. Because you're shitty. |
Well it's amazons fault for not having an outlet near him he go and ballkick them at.
|
Haha, it's cool. My buddy came over and let me install off of his disc and it's working off the bad disc til I return it. It's not amazon's fault I know. But it sucks not being able to directly return something, so I'll never buy games online again. That said, Gears of War 3 online is fun as shit.

Amazon is extremely good about their returns policy. They usually give you free shipping, credit your account, the whole shebang.
Better than most. I don't think I've bought from anyone besides them and Newegg because anywhere else is just a tremendous waste of time and not indicative in the least of how good shopping for things online can be. Or you're just the kind of person that lets bad experiences color your view of something for life and then talks about it on an internet forum. I hope you're not one of those people. |
I'm sorry, but I honestly don't give a flying fuck if it's Amazon or Ebay or anyone else; I'd rather buy expensive clothing, shoes, whitegoods, furniture, and.... games in a shop down the road rather than online. I do, however, buy a lot of other shit onine.
I don't care how humane their policies are; I don't want to wait for it to get here only to have to arrange to have it shipped back (free or not) when I want or need it right away. I don't want to buy something online, wait a week + for it to arrive and then find out it's the wrong size. I'm guessing Koko is the same since it would have sucked if the game was fucked and he missed playing with his bros. It really would have. It's not 'one bad experience'; it's a preference for efficiency. EDIT: Also, get off Amazon's tip. |
I knew you were going to say that last bit.
And it's incredibly disheartening to live in a world where a matter of a few days inconvenience matters so much to some. I thought my life was bad. EDIT: Fuck white people and their bitchass problems. |
Why shouldn't it matter when I can get it in half a day? Plus, for me, it's not a few days, it's at least a week to get most stuff delivered, and then another week to send it back if there is a problem, and then another week for them to re-deliver.
Why settle for second best? It's not white man whingeing about his late video game, it's a proud member of humanity marveling at the feat that our technology and ingenuity has granted us, and not settling for anything less. I can get it quickly... why wait? |
Okay.
But there is a fat red line between "it's closer and more convenient, so that's my preference" and "I'm never buying anything online again ever never no way." |
I just don't like waiting for something that I paid for to be here and functioning the release date. I buy a ton of shit online, but never games that I really want to be playing ever again. I may buy games that are time wasters through amazon. I buy a bunch of guitar stuff online and have no problems. But something as fragile as a small circular disc, trusted in the hands of someone who throws packages around, isn't really gonna make me want to use them again. I don't want to have to wait to play with my friends online. Sure, it's not me starving or anything, but it is something I pay for a service to get. And next time, I'll just go do it myself at the store. That way if it doesn't work, I can just drive 3 miles and get another instead of waiting 5 days or more.
|
That sounds far too reasonable. >:

:lol ok, so I guess there ISN'T a big, fat line between never buying games online and wanting more convenience, because that's why I never buy games online; it's more convenient.
Both of us have said we buy lots of other stuff online. Leave it be, please. |
I won't because I want to win. >:

You cannot win because you are not right.

I was writing a longer post about how I agree with Zhukov and k0k0, based on how stupid it is to order a game online, pay for it and the shipping, and then potentially have to send it back and wait even longer to play it...but then I accidentally hit the back button, so fuck it.
I buy shirts online because it's just awesome for unique stuff (teefury, fright-rags, etc), and I buy books because they're cheap and I'm usually not pre-ordering new ones. Shit, even DVDs. Games, though...that's just stupid. As stupid as trying to condemn people in first world countries, in 2011, for opting for the more convenient purchase methods. |
but this hole I'm digging feels so good
|
i've ordered games online before, but it was only when that was the only way to get exclusives (i.e. the t-shirt I got with fallout 3 collectors edition). Plus, it was from the online store of a retailer that actually has a storefront near me, so I might've still been able to return/exchange a faulty disc
|
let's argue about how to get video games
|
NO
|
first you find a seedy street and look around for a guy in a puffy jacket possibly with a backpack
then you catch his eye and then look all nonchalant and when you walk by you go whatup and maybe give him a secret handshake then you ask him to hook you up and hopefully he has the PAL version of games you want |
I ORDER GAMES ONLINE BECAUSE I'M A GROWN ASS MAN WITH A JOB AND I DON'T GIVE A FUCK FUCK FUCK.
ALSO AMAZON HAS RELEASE DAY DELIVERY AND I'M USUALLY AT WORK ANYWAYS SO A NICE GAME IS WAITING FOR ME TO GET HOME AND THEN I STRIP NUDE AND PLAY IT SPRAWLED OUT ON THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR WITH AN ICE CHEST FULL OF BEER SO I DON'T HAVE TO GET UP AND I JUST PISS IN A BUCKET BECAUSE OF ALL THE FUCKS I DON'T GIVE. |
Well apparently my UPS doesn't deliver here until 8 pm, so in order to get my game I have to wait til the end of the day. Plus if it's broken, I get to strip down nude and play with my wiener because there's nothing else to do for the next 3 days. Of course I do have a shelf of like 80 other games, so I am talking out of my ass.
|
FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES LET'S JUST SAY THAT I RECEIVE A GAME THAT IS BROKEN HERE IS WHAT I WOULD DO
EXCLAIM "OH MY, IT APPEARS THAT MY GAME IS NOT FUNCTIONING" GO ONLINE AND DEAL WITH IT LIKE A FUCKING GROWN UP INSTEAD OF THROWING A FIT LIKE A RETARDED 8 YEAR OLD MASTURBATE TO INTERNET PORN LIFE GOES ON ALSO I NEVER GET BROKEN SHITTY GAMES (UNLESS YOU COUNT WHEN I GOT BRINK BECAUSE THAT GAME WAS FUNCTIONALLY SHITTY AND BROKEN :lol) BECAUSE I AM A GOD FEARING TAX PAYING AMERICAN AND GODBLESS US ALL. USA USA USA USA USA |
I live in the USA and my game was fuckin broken in a non-working way, probably due to UPS's need to throw around every package that isn't 60 pounds or more. I did deal with it like a grown up, but I also felt the need to complain because it was my first time ordering a game online and this kind of ruined it for me.
|
I think you are just a filthy sinner and probably unclean in the eyes of our Lord, Jesus Christ, PRAISE HIS NAME IN THE HIGHEST.
|
I get enough of that talk from my mother. She also declares me a filthy sinner. But she says it a lot more politely.
|
If you were a real American you would have gotten in your pickup truck, spent the $6 in gas to drive to the store, and just buy it in person. That way if your game is damaged you can just take it the fuck back. :rolleyes
|
if you're a filthy sinner then god will break your videogames
|
I mostly buy my games online because it's cheaper, and because I don't mind waiting on account of all the other damn games I've got in the backlog.
Sometimes I wonder when this endless cycle of buying games and putting them away until I play the games I bought earlier first started. I think it was shortly after I started making my own money. |
Do you not buy new games until you have progressed through your backlog? Then when your ready to play what was a new game, you can buy it on the cheap used? Or are you like me and if you dont get it now you forget about it and end up never playing it?
|
Both. Usually I wait until I can get a game for between $30 and $40, and I try to focus on older games I have, but at times I'll throw all that out the window and focus on whatever new game I have.
|
Goddammit, there I was, minding my own business, casually browsing the US-PSN when suddenly BAM-Persona 2 for PSP. I think I resisted for about 5 seconds before buying a card and getting it.
P2 is one of those games you hear SO much about over here but we never got to play it, kinda like FF6 back in the day. Wait...doesn´t...doesn´t Persona 2 have Hitler in it and his Persona is Nyarlathotep? How much better can this evening get :) Also, I have 13 bucks left on my account. I kinda feel like gettin Alundra and Parasite Eve 2 too, any other suggestions? No, wait...Breath of Fire IV...how did you get here...c´mere you great old game you... |

Does anyone know if Space Marine is 'cross platform'? My friend says that if I have it on Xbox I can play him online even though he has it on PS3. Is this truth or shite? |

But I´d love if it worked, especially for games like this where the online is not as populated to begin with. |
Yeah, I thought it was idiocy, but he insisted.

I don't think Space Marines is cross platform though. |
I mean crossplatform between PS3 and 360. PC and X, yeah sure, we get that quite often these days.
|
It's the way the games' network interfaces work. It's just an additional step.
Shadowrun for the 360 and PC was cross-platform. Ironically, it was highly touted at the time for being that way and for being the first Game for Windows Live that was released. Since then, it's been the only Game for Windows Live that you can play with console owners. :lol I really liked that game, too. Shame it had so many network issues. Everything else was solid, though. Pretty game. I just put my money down on Dark Souls today. Traded in 12 games that were gathering dust and got $130, which surprised me. So I preordered Dark Souls and the Metal Gear Solid HD collection. I'm so psyched to play Peacewalker for the first time and go back to Big Shell and Groznyj Grad. I missed out on the Subsistence version of 3, too, so it'll be doubly awesome. :eek BUT DARK SOULS. COMES OUT TUESDAY. SEE YOU ON THE KILLING FLOOR, MOTHERFUCKERS. |
I have been hooked on Mount and Blade. It makes slaughtering and razing peasant villages just too much fun. I've actually gotten great with bows and I still feel giddy going into a charge and knocking out 4 or more consecutive kills out of a mob of 60.

I hear some people think that is real. PT Barnum was right

I've seen them at flea markets. At least the one that plays mario with weird colors.
|
they sell thosse over here at walmart for like 15 bucks they come packed with around a 100 games some different slightly changed versions of the same game, 2 controllers and a gun
|
Here's a question: would you (YOU!) buy a Dreamcast if they were in shops for cheap. If you already have one, would you buy some sort of sequel that was about the same power as a Wii, but with the typical DC/arcadey game selections.
I am yes. |
If Sega had ever made a console post-Dreamcast, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat. Should it's game library be similar to DC's (Arcade perfect ports and unique 1st party exclusives) that'd be even more of a reason for me to get it. Unlike the Wii though, I think that the system would have to be capable of HD graphics. I don't mean to say that great graphics make a difference and it's not just great gameplay, as I certainly don't think that's the case. In today's market for console games, HD seems to be very important with most TVs now. Playing standard def. on an HDTV looks like ass for the most part. I recently I've been playing Skyward Sword and thought to myself that the game would be amazing with HD graphics.
Anyhoozle, a console for the more hardcore gamer would be nice to have now-a-days. Or at least a console where it's games aren't mostly sports and first person shooters or total crap shovelware games. |

GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR MY GAME OF THE YEAR |
Great game, but Skyrim definitely has it beat.
|
I agree on skyrim. I had more story thrown at me in the intro to skyrim than I did with the whole game of dark souls.
|
There's no one on any planet that would say Dark Souls had more story, or any story, really. But I'd rather have no story than a terrible one. Maybe that doesn't make sense to people.
|
Or maybe you're just a bitch. Skyrim's story is cheesy, but it's nice to have some reason for doing what you're doing. Besides, even if the main story was fucking horrible, a lot of the side quests are great.
|
Without a doubt. The Dark Brotherhood is one of my favorites, as is the entire quest revolving around Markarth and the Forsworn.
At the end of the game, all I wanted to do is talk to dragons all day. I think I'm pretty much done with it. |
I just killed everyone in the Dark Brotherhood because I didn't take kindly to being kidnapped. I've got what I think are a few more main quests 'til I finish. Haven't bothered with the colleges past one or two quests, either.
|
I never bothered with the Companions or the Bards because they weren't really interesting to me. The Mage's college is pretty cool, though.

Don't get me wrong; I was very impressed with Dark Souls, but Skyrim is just soooo massive. I think that I prefer some aspects of the gameplay in DS, but I prefer Skyrim overall. The scale of the thing is crazy, and I'm one of those people that seeks immersion from games. This one delivers.
Still, just talking about DS makes me crave that combat. Fuck, I loved stabbing stuff with my lightning spear. I can still upgrade and enchant in this one, though. |
It's weird because they're very different in what they're trying to achieve, yet I can't hep but get similar feelings from the both of them.
|
Again, havent played skyrim... But I watched a friend kill a dragon. It took just a few good fireballs (fire on a dragon? Really?) and the dragon dropped without much trouble. He did this while just strolling through town shopping like it wasnt a big deal. Point being, I think it would take killing every dragon in that game to come close to sense of accomplishment as killing one black knight; victory in DS is oh so sweet.
|
By the end, I was doing a riposte on every black knight that I came across. I made a chaos halberd and was wearing black knight armor, and I absolutely destroyed those black knights in the Kiln of the First Flame. Upgrading your equipment in that game is very satisfying. It took me a while to upgrade my grass crest shield, but by the time it was +10, it was awesome. Same goes for the +10 lightning winged spear.
I tried killing that giant drake on new game+, and fuck, even the dragonslayer bow was doing fuck all for damage. I just gave up. It took only a handful of dragonslayer arrows in the regular game :(. |
The difficulty on New Game + ramps up HARD. I eventually stopped playing around the time I beat the butterfly and killed that noxious dragon in the Valley of the Drakes because I don't have Xbox Live and I'm just going to end up missing out on the best half of the game, anyway.
|
When you do new game + do you get to keep all of your old stuff? As well as your level?
Once you beat that do you get to do a new game ++? Does it up the difficulty again? Or could you beat it a few times over and actually be able to walk around more or less a god? |
Oh and lightning battle axe all the way.
|
You keep all of your stuff and level, minus quest items (like the charred ring). And yeah, you get new game ++.
|
Does it get harder every time?
|
Supposed to, up until the seventh time or so, I think.
|
:eek
