No, I was told by several people that it's awful. I'm working on VP2 right now but I'm quickly losing interest in it because many of the combat rules seem to be completely arbitrary.

I liked it (The DS game). It actually makes you play it a certain way the first time through so it is impossible to get the final boss. The bonus Seraphic Gate game is kind of crappy though

So think of it as a double length game, kind of more like how Castlevanis SotN springs a double length game on you.

SOTN was like having a whole sequel to play through with the inverted castle. Ghouls & Ghosts makes you literally play the entire game over to beat the real end boss. I'm sure VP is a ton better though.
