6, 5 or 4 String bass?
 

I prefer 4. i own a 4 and 5, and on my 5 string i never use the B string. only times i really use it is when im just screwing around. But if i wrote my own music im sure i would use it.

I like my fretless four string. If I could afford a new bass I doubt I would go for a 5.

oo nice. if im not mistaken that was one of cliff burton basses right? Im hopin after a new amp ill be getting played one at the local music shop and it sounds nice. price tag is hefty tho :(.

Nice looking bass...most important thing I've found over the years is the quality of the hardware/pick-ups and neck (does it feel right for you). The $500 bass isn't a very good bass anymore, meaning that you need to spend alteast $1000 to get quality...picking up a used older cool bass and putting some money into it slowly is fun and educational :/


My friend has an original Fender Telecaster bass that sounds amazing...simple bass that he put an active pick-up in.

Hmmm cool. might half to try upgrading an older bass like you said. maby it will be easier on the wallet.

my 4-string mexican jazz (which was under 400 and VERY VERY GOOD btw) is like missing 2 tuners, 2 saddles & the nut is cracked :/ but if I replaced all that shit it'd sound better than an american I think :o oh and the pickups too but they arn't broken but replacing them would have a big effect on the overall tone :0

my sg into the octaver sounds nuts though :0 VERY fat!

I use a 4. But if I ever get a 5 Im sure Id just use the B string as a thumb rest. Only if I really needed some low ass shit.

I prefer my 4 but if you know what your doing you can make some ood shit with the multiplied stings. I know a guy who made a 16 string, it looks like a giant electric bass harp.

I could watch this vid over and over...some bassists go on and on about Flea, but I find the slap style boring.
