Mass Image Resize?

I always just dump my images from my camera to a folder, and they are always way huge. Is there way that I could just set a max width (or height, etc) to all the pictures in a folder, or shrink them? I mean without opening photoshop for every single one...

If you are going to tell me to change the setting on my camera, that barely helps, as it makes it still too big.

I know there's a plugin or something that can be added to photoshop to do the same action to a selection of images. I just have no idea how to do it. For example, if i needed to resize to a certain size and put a stroke of 1px of black aroud the edges of 300 pictures, the computer can do it without you babysitting it.

This does a pretty good job of batch processing.

I went with IrfanView. It works great, I'll just have to toy around with it, but it's good! Thanks to everyone! :D
