I made my friends watch this movie, I think they still havenīt quite forgiven me...

StuntDouble Jul 15th, 2010 11:17 AM

I watched this movie, and still haven't quite forgiven myself.

I've an original Zardoz daybill poster hovering over my desk, helps keep me motivated to work.

One could say that Zed's outfit is loosely based upon that of Arhur from Ghosts N' Goblins.

ZARDOZ

I APPROVE

I remember catching parts of this one late night with nothing else to do. I haven't been this confused since I walked in on my dad watching Heavy Metal when I was 5, and he let me watch it with him.

Personally, I always wanted to find a shot of one of the pics from the back of the DVD case for this one. It shows Zed staring *intently* into a crystal ball and there's this woman behind him holding up a knife by which I do believe she means to stab him lots. I just always found it hilarious. I just couldn't ever *find* it outside of the DVD case.

This movie looks amazing. Also, it was really nice to read a top 10 of something review again here{I-Mockery}.

Dungeonbrownies Jul 16th, 2010 07:26 PM

UPDATE: I have just watched this film and never before in my life have I witnessed something so mind-blowingly bizarre as this piece of cinema.

Shadowdancer21b Jul 17th, 2010 09:14 PM

I actually sort of "get" Zardoz. Call it sci-fi fantasy overload or something but with all the weirdness I've read this sorta makes some sense. Also, in the commmentary the director mentions that a lot got cut and that their budget fell through during filming. Imaging what Zardoz COULD have been. Also, why wasn't the explanation of Zardoz's name in the list?

Dr. Boogie Jul 17th, 2010 09:23 PM

I didn't put the name origin bit in because it was part of a spoiler moment.

Spoilers!

All hail to ZARDOZ! Thou shalt not slander thy movie.

You should have at least posted the trailer for the movie so people could see some of this awesome movie. I love this movie and have subjected numerous friends (and a few enemies) to this movie. I also just picked up the book (written by the director, John Boorman) for .50 cents at a used book store. It even has pictures of the movie in the middle of the paperback. I suggest that anyone who is interested in this movie first go to youtube and watch the trailer. Love the fact that you reviewed this. Thanks.

I watched this movie about a year ago and can't remember anything about it at all. I guess my mind has blocked it out.

I love the review of "Book of Eli" on Io9 that suggested it was actually a remake of Zardoz. I have never seen either movie but I like to dream it is actually true.
