Tim Cappello Appreciation Thread

Born in Silver Lake, NY, Timmy Cappello is a multi-talented and diverse as musicians come. I've heard him described as a "one man band" by some and others, as a "interchangeable but unforgettable musician." Some of the instruments in his repertoire include tenor saxophone, keyboards, percussion, and harmonica. Timmy is also a vocalist as well as a music composer.
His professional career began with none other than funny man, Billy Crystal. For five years, Timmy was Billy's accompanist. His musical improvisations on piano and saxophone along with Billy's comedy made them an engaging team. However, this was only the beginning for Timmy.

He went on to record and tour with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Eric Carmen, Carly Simon, and Ringo Star. However, one of the biggest breaks of Timmy's career began in 1984. He became a member of Tina Turner's band, in which he has been a key member ever since. Timmy was able to incorporate some of his skills, arranging music for the band. It was during his stint with Turner that Timmy also began to engage in acting.

He has starred in several of Tina Turner's music videos, one being the hit single "We Don't Need Another Hero," the title track for the Mel Gibson-Tina Turner movie flick, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. From then on, Timmy acted in several films and television series, including Hearts of Fire(with Bob Dylan), Tap (with Gregory Hines), and The Lost Boys, in which he performed a single off of the movie soundtrack. Timmy's television credits include The Equalizerand Miami Vice.

Timmy Cappello's other accomplishments include songwriting and scoring. He has written songs for and performs with the New York band the Ken Dolls through a staff writing deal with Warner Bros. Timmy has scored for the PBS Frontlineseries and has recently completed a composition for the Rat Pack, a four hour Arts & Entertainment special.

Timmy also performed with the 1999 version of Ringo Star's All Star Band, in which he was a member of in 1992. Currently, he is working on various musical projects.
