GIANT ROBOT

uh unfinished just want a little critique before I go on. I oversharpened this small version, so try to think of it at 50% less unsharp mask. I'd just like to point out that this is just practise work.

Ninjavenom Sep 14th, 2004 02:28 PM

"practice work"

fuck you >:

It's very aesthetically appealing, i like the roundness, very humanoid. I'd hit it.

EisigerBiskuit Sep 14th, 2004 04:34 PM

Did you draw that picture and put it through a filter? The bottom left is clueing me.

I love it because I love Mech Warrior, and mech warrior has rocket launching machines, like your picture

unsharp mask.
You're not one of the smart ones, I take it.

And thanks, ninja.

Anonymous Sep 14th, 2004 07:51 PM

I think he meant the cutout filter; He thinks you made a detailed picture, then ran it through a cheap gay filter in PS to make it look unfinished or something.

He's still retarded, just in a different way than you originally thought.

ScruU2wice Sep 14th, 2004 08:02 PM

I'm doing nature vs. technology for my AP concentration so my eyes are automatically set to seeing more of the human features of this.

It almost looks like a person in robotic armor to me because of the little exposed bicep. I can't visualize unsharp filters because I don't use too many of them in photoshop but I think toward the bottom the positioning is getting confusing like which way the torso is facing and it's relationship with the upper body, but I think you'll fix all that up when you finish it up. I like the more organic colors with the red contrasting, and the big thing behind the neck because it balances out the big square missile ridden shoulders which otherwise would have a miniscule head and blank space. Can't wait till you finish it.

EisigerBiskuit Sep 14th, 2004 08:04 PM

goddamn, youre mean :(

Ninjavenom Sep 14th, 2004 09:42 PM

No, he's just pointing out things that need to be fixed, which is what helm asked for in the first place. Definitely a good call on the torso placement, though. The bottom half seems like it needs a little rotation to properly line up with the axis or spine or whatever of the robot, unless you were going for a mid-rotation look, like it's turning to deliver massive death to that old granny in the station wagon just offscreen.

Captain Goodtimes Sep 14th, 2004 09:50 PM

I think EisigerBiskuit meant what helm and chojin said about it.

That's Rockin', Helm.

Matt Harty Sep 15th, 2004 10:14 AM

I like it.

Helm Sep 15th, 2004 10:53 AM

yeah thanks for the in-depth critique

DeadKennedys Sep 15th, 2004 01:16 PM

I like it, except for the legs. They look muddy and like you got tired of drawing and just said fuck it. Anyway, the rest is amazing.

MetalMilitia Sep 15th, 2004 04:00 PM

very nice but i think these places need a bit of work.

Helm Sep 15th, 2004 08:19 PM

So um, your daddy kicked your mother a lot in the stomach while she was having you, eh

hawaiian mage Sep 15th, 2004 08:47 PM

DOOOOD, HELM! MALITIA IS RIGHT!!! THOSE CIRCLED PLACES ARE ALL BLURY AND SHIT!! IT LOOKS LIKE IT NEEDS SOME WORK THERE!!

BUT THE TOP IS RAD.

RADICAL THAT IS!

Driscoll Sep 16th, 2004 12:31 AM

I like the shoulder mounts, and the right hand is great; it looks like some sort of loader to the compartment on the right shoulder. I also really like the left shoulder and the detail you put on the rocket case.

Niiiice work. It reminds me of Front Mission. :)

Helm Sep 16th, 2004 12:36 AM

Yeah actually I started doing this right after finished Front Mission : Gun Hazard so extra points for you.

DamnthatDavid Sep 16th, 2004 05:05 AM

I hate you artists... you make it look so freaking easy.

subterfuge Sep 16th, 2004 02:04 PM

You have a cool painted style. I can't get digital paints to look non-smooth.

Are you gonna put him in a post-apocalyptic battlefield background?

Helm Sep 17th, 2004 01:24 PM

I was thinking of going with the scaring grandma with walking aid idea

Supafly345 Sep 17th, 2004 02:10 PM

I have nothing to say, but since I am under the dilusion that people care about my jabber, I am going to post anyway.

Front Mission? You obviously copied the 9X2Y-00 DESTRUCTOTECH Gundam Taser constructed 564-piece model kit set. I made one myself in less than 25 minutes during AP concentration class, and it sorta looked like this.

Really though, It looks good for an incomplete image. I kinda got the impression that it was meant to be sand weathered when I saw it. I wish I could tell you more, but but that image is too small for my dried-over eyes to see well.

Helm Sep 21st, 2004 06:02 PM

Here's an update, and bigger so supafly doesn't cry.

EisigerBiskuit Sep 21st, 2004 07:23 PM

The top is sexified, Hooray!

ScruU2wice Sep 25th, 2004 12:16 AM

now that you've showed that much of the legs I think you need to go all the way and show the feet so the stability of it all makes more sense.

Matt Harty Sep 25th, 2004 12:54 PM

I like it even better now.
