Hulk Hogan

I'm fairly certain that I'm not the only person that watched a shitload of professional wrestling back in the 80's. And I'm just as sure that most of those who watched were Hulkamaniacs. He has been able to stay relevant by becoming a bad guy with the WCW, having a reality TV show, enjoying a brief, nostalgia-driven stint in the WWE a few years back, and now appearing on American Gladiators.

So does anyone think/care about the recent Hogan problems? For those who don't know, his family life has gotten pretty shitty due to his son Nick's car accident that left the passenger a vegetable. Here's a convo he had with his currently jailed son from TMZ http://www.tmz.com/2008/05/23/hulk-t...issed-off-god/

Any old Hulkamaniacs out there care to weigh in? Oh, and I'm not this guy: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BvTNyKIGXiI Though you have to admire his passion.

I LOVE THE HULKSTER!! CHECK OUT MY BACK!!!

SUBURBAN COMMANDO RULES!!!

Dude, his wife's a bitch, he's better off. greener pastures man.

I was never a huge Hogan fan, I thought his range of wrestling moves was lacking. I would root for Curt Henning when he and Lanny Poffo would feud with Hogan and Savage on Saturday Night's Main Event. I did however find great amusment when he was doing the Mr. America gimmick.

I could care less what Hulk and son blabbed about over the phone. I block shit like that out because in my eyes Hulk Hogan can do no wrong. Actually, I couldn't block Mr. Nanny out so I guess he can only do one wrong.

Make that two wrongs.

I liked when Miss Elizabeth wore the prom dresses and did the perpetual damsel-in-distress thing. That cracked me up.

Poor lady :( Short, unhappy life.

pac-man Jun 6th, 2008 03:37 AM

Could've been worse. She could've married Chris Benoit.

Pentegarn Jun 6th, 2008 12:20 PM

She would have had a few more years of life then at least

I read an updated article about Benoit last month and it made feel a little bit better. I used to make fun of Canadians when I was younger, then I talked to my grandmother and I found out I'm part French-Canadien. I'm now VERY PROUD of that fact and have a lot of respect for Edmonton.

But back to the point, a few months after Benoit died they did a brainscan to see what his brain was like. From all the concussions over the years and the meds he was on he was basically out of his mind. The official prognosis was that he had the same brain pattern of an 80 year old man with alzheimers. I'm glad I was able to meet him before...you know.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

I miss Benoit and Elizabeth. And Rick Rude. And Curt Hennig. And John "Earthquake" Tenta. And Eddie Guerrero. And Owen Hart. And Davey Boy Smith. And Ray "Boss Man" Traylor. And Brian Pillman. And most of the Von Erich family.

Fucking remind me never to become a pro-wrestler.

What, Andre the Giant didn't want any of that?

pac-man Jun 8th, 2008 11:15 PM

I really do miss all of those performers. Andre too.

MLE Jun 10th, 2008 02:30 AM

I'm sure you knew each one deeply and intimately.

pac-man Jun 10th, 2008 04:03 AM

Did I say that?

Do you mean socially, or in the biblical sanse?

pac-man Jun 10th, 2008 06:23 AM

Look, I was being sarcastic, but any wrestling fan worth their salt knows those names. They were great performers, in and out of the ring. I was just poking fun; now I kinda feel like an asshole. If it makes me look like less of a dick, I would've made a similar joke in an SNL forum.

Geggy Jun 10th, 2008 06:45 AM

There was a time I thought Ultimate Warrior would O.D. from the combination of speed and steroids.

pac-man Jun 10th, 2008 07:05 AM

Same could be said for Randy Savage. He had to be on something.
