FORUM EVENT: "I-MOCKERY'S 2013 SECRET SANTA EVENT!"

YO HO HO HO! WELCOME TO...

OFFICIAL SIGN UP THREAD

Christmas is approaching once again and that means one important thing: staying far the hell away from the apocalyptic scenarios at any store that dares to hold a Black Friday sale this month. Aside from that, it's also time for I-Mockery's annual Christmas Secret Santa event! Every year, registered users from the forum community come together to share in the holiday commercialism by buying and sending each other gifts that range from hilarious to just plain awesome. It's tradition, so whether you're a new member or an old one, you should absolutely join in the fun, so be sure to reply to this thread. 10,000 Volt Ghost is running the event this year, so be sure to read the important rules he'll be posting below BEFORE you reply to this thread and sign-up:

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 14th, 2013 02:04 AM

How it works:

You sign up in this thread by stating that you want to join. The last day to sign up is November 24th. Send 10,000 Volt Ghost a private message with your full mailing address, real name and your forum name/alias. On November 25th, you will receive a PM with the name and address of the person you will be sending your gift to. At this point, you send out your gift before December 7th and get ready to receive a gift of your own! Upon receiving your gift, you must post pictures in this thread to show everyone what you got! It’s not mandatory, but many participants in the past have made a little story out of enjoying their gift(s), so do that if you wanna have extra fun! But at the very least, you need to post photos of what you received. Everyone needs to get pictures of the gifts they received posted by December 22nd.

Everyone has plenty of time to do all of that, so do it!

Special note for those of you who live outside of North America:

You’re more than welcome to participate, but pay special attention to the “how people will be split up” section below.

Rules and Guidelines:
This whole thing is for fun, but there has to be some assurance that everyone will keep up their end of the bargain, so failure to follow the rules and instructions will result in a permanent ban from the forums. Plus, we know Santa pretty well, and he’s assured us that messing up in any way will result in a nice big chunk of coal being rammed up your rectum! :D

Here are some general rules and guidelines everybody should follow:
  • Spend somewhere between 15-25 bucks (USD) on your gift. This amount does NOT include shipping costs. No one likes a cheapskate, so if this is too much money for you, get a job and join next year instead! Don’t go overboard and get something expensive, but don’t cheap out either. If you want to spend more than 25 bucks, you can, but please understand that you most likely won't receive something of equal monetary value. Then again, that's not what this is all about, so that shouldn't matter to you anyway, Scrooge!
  • Obey all deadlines. Screwing someone over, especially at Christmas, is a guaranteed ticket to hell! Let’s see if an eternity of torture will help you be punctual!
  • Before signing up, make sure you have a working camera. If you can’t upload pictures to your computer directly, there are other options such as getting your film developed and put on a CD. Uploading pictures of your gifts is just as important to our Secret Santa event as sending some gifts out is. Remember, if you don't have a camera of your own, your cellphone probably has a working camera and/or you can also buy disposable digital cameras too.
  • MAKE SURE YOUR ADDRESS IS UP TO DATE AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY TROUBLE RECEIVING PACKAGES! It’s not hard to find your current address, so don’t fuck it up!
  • Don’t be cheap and make something. If you have to do that, keep the minimum spending amount in mind and please consider sending other purchased stuff along with your creation as well. It's fine to make something in addition to purchasing gifts for your recipient, just try not to only make stuff as it's hard to put a monetary value on that sort of thing
  • Your mailing address CANNOT be a P.O. Box. No gifts will be sent to P.O. boxes nor will anyone with a P.O box as a mailing address be allowed to participate in the Secret Santa event.
  • Again If you fail to uphold your end of the deal, you will be permanently banned from the forums. So please, don't be a dick. We want this event to be fun for everybody.
  • YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PURCHASE GIFTS FROM DOLLAR STORES. We've had too many people get screwed over by cheap gifts at 99cent / dollar general stores, so please do not purchase gifts from them.
IF YOU’RE A NEW MEMBER (Registered AND active less than a year)

In an effort to cut down on people who might sign-up just to get free shit, new users need to take the following steps to be eligible to join in the fun:

1. Provide a picture of themselves holding up a hand-written sign that says both "I-MOCKERY SECRET SANTA 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" along with their message forum name/name in plain view.

2. Post this picture in this thread for all to see.

3. PM 10,000 Volt Ghost, informing him that you are a new member who wants to participate in the secret Santa event. He will then send you a letter with a mailing address.

4. Send a test letter to the mailing address that you were provided with by 10,000 Volt Ghost. The letter needs to include your full name, return mailing address and your name here on the I-Mockery forums.

5. To ensure that you’re eligible to participate, do all of that as quickly as possible!

These steps are necessary to verify that you have a working camera and the motivation to get your ass to a post office.

DEADLINES!!!!

-The last day to SIGN UP is SUNDAY, November 24th (watch this thread because if we have an uneven number, we might accept more)

-The last day for SENDING your gifts out is December 7th (deadline was extended to this new date this year since we were a little late sending out Secret Santa assignments)

-The last day for POSTING PICTURES of the gifts you receive is December 22nd (deadline may be extended since sending out Secret Santa assignments has been delayed a bit this year)

MAILING YOUR PACKAGE:

-You MUST send out your gifts by priority or express shipping methods to ensure that everyone receives their gifts in a timely fashion. Someone will be doing this for you, so please do it for someone else.

-You MUST purchase a tracking number for your package so that you can keep track of it if there are any delays.

-Do NOT send a PM or email to the person who you are sending a gift to in an attempt to let them know that you're their Secret Santa. It's called "Secret" Santa for a reason, people. Half of the fun is people being surprised when they learn who their Secret Santa is!

RECEIVING YOUR PACKAGE:

-Post pictures of all the gifts you receive no later than December 22nd. If you want to be funny with it and make a video or pictorial story or something, that’s great, but just make sure you post it all by the 22nd.

-Take pictures of ALL of your gifts. Half of the fun of this event is seeing recipients enjoying their gifts.

-If you don’t have your package and it’s getting close to the deadline for postings pictures, send a PM to 10,000 Volt Ghost so he can see what the delay is.

HOW PEOPLE WILL BE SPLIT UP:

Everyone who participates will be paired randomly with someone to send their gift to, but if certain conditions are met, some switches might have to be made:

Because this event attracts people from all over the world, special attention will be paid to making sure people won’t have to spend too much on shipping. This doesn’t mean that you’re guaranteed to get someone from the same country as you, but if there are only a couple participants from your part of the world, it’s a possibility. Either way, we will not tolerate complaints from people who refuse to mail packages outside of their country. If you have a problem with this, you shouldn't sign up because there's always a chance you will have to pay a little extra to ship your package out. This season is about giving, so you shouldn't be picky about little things like shipping fees.

Once again, I shall join. I always love this event!

Douglas MacKrell Nov 14th, 2013 03:30 PM

Oh no! I'm so new I can't even send PMs yet! I'll get commenting so that I can unlock that feature and hopefully get the mailing address I need to be a part of this - it sounds like a lot of fun!

Mockery Nov 14th, 2013 06:21 PM

I'm definitely participating again.

Also, Douglas won one of our recent Halloween contests, so I can vouch for him to help speed up the process. Go ahead and add him as a participant. Douglas, I the forum is set so you need to post X number of times before you can send a PM (prevents spambots from annoying our members).

ChrisGlass Nov 14th, 2013 06:41 PM

Count me in!

Just promoted the event on instagram, hopefully it will help get new members. Looking forward to participating as always.

executioneer Nov 15th, 2013 03:42 AM

Nick Nov 15th, 2013 06:09 PM

Sign me up as usual, broskis. Make Willie sign up so I can send him pony-related contraband.

JohnnyQuest Nov 17th, 2013 01:33 PM

YES! I missed the deadline last year, but doing this before was super cool. Sign me up!

Thanos Nov 17th, 2013 09:17 PM

After last year's "pillow incident", I debated heavily as to whether I'd participate again this year.

Like any good soldier, I think I'm ready for another tour of duty. Count me in.

The guy who sent that shouldn't be allowed to participate. Hopefully you have a better round this year. Thanks again for last year btw!

I don't really agree. the item he sent was within the price limit and didnt break any of the posted rules. I just think it sets a bad precedent.

not an issue unless he (snoogans) wants to join of course.

in anycase I hope you get an extra awesome gift this year Thanos.

After reading you take on it, I realized i was wrong and retract my statement. I just felt bad that it was such a disappointing gift. It was great a gag gift but there should have been a legit one with it as as well. No offense to Snoogans who I was paired with last year, I forgot who sent it before commenting.

Ronin S Nov 18th, 2013 09:54 AM

I'd like to do this, sign me up!

What happened with the "pillow incident"?

BatmanJohnson Nov 18th, 2013 10:19 AM

Thanos got a pillow of his face

The fact that I basically got cyber-stalked and had a real photo of my actual face printed on a pillow was just unsettling, to say the least. I can appreciate the sentiment... a little. My dogs still can't look at the pillow without completely losing their shit and flipping out, though.

If you want to read something really funny Ronin, go check out the 2012 Secret Santa thread. So much win! :hypno

I am totally down for rocking Secret Santa again. :)

I find this funny and horrifying both at the same time.

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 18th, 2013 09:53 PM

Thats the gift that gives year round.

captain516 Nov 20th, 2013 08:04 PM

Hey Thanos some of us have to sleep on boring old everyday pillows, do you realize how lucky you are?

I think I'd be less creeped out getting one of those giant anime body pillows than a pillow with my face printed on it from a complete stranger.

Captain Conquest Nov 21st, 2013 01:43 AM

I wish to join in the Santa fun!

To whom ever I get paired up with, I got a really awesome Idea for a present!! :xmas3

snoogans Nov 22nd, 2013 05:54 AM

The ratio of people who liked my present to who disliked it was about an 8:1 based on public forum replies and private messages, however I'm sitting this year out for no other reason than I need to save money. I just wanted to drop by and say have fun gang and Thanos, once again I do hope there's no hard feelings.

captain516 Nov 22nd, 2013 01:50 PM

oh, and I forgot to say that I want to sign up too.

I feel like we need a legit face pic as cool as Ultra man is. Otherwise I'll have the gift sent to Ultraman care of 3 Breath of Fire, Capcom, JP 0124Ican'tbelievetheyaremakingbreathoffiresixafuck ingwebbasedflashgame

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 23rd, 2013 01:51 AM

Also, I'll try and get on every day to update. They blocked I-Mockery at my work. My Unit Manager gave me a discussion how going on I-Mockery could make people feel bad "Even though I don't think you would make people feel bad."

I love my job so I will abide by said wishes of not making people feel bad while at work. I'll be on my phone most of the time which is a pain to type, copy paste upload with but it will be done nonetheless.

:xmas3

Mockery Nov 23rd, 2013 02:08 PM

Hahaha, hilarious! So how exactly could I-Mockery "make people feel bad" at your job? Did your manager explain?

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 24th, 2013 01:38 AM

I think it was recorded on my of calls after I had finished. I'm not sure what thread was up but I'm sure it was something offensive.

Thanks :picklehat !! and unfortunately no. I settled into a secure job, fighting monsters didn't pay like it used to. I have an Ultra wife and Ultra kids to support. I am currently working on an autobiography if you'd be interested!

Nick Nov 28th, 2013 12:13 PM

Welp, I've already mailed my gift out.
To my lucky secret person, you should be getting two packages from Amazon, one will be gift wrapped, the other will be in a plan box. One will arrive earlier than the other. I suggest waiting until you get both boxes since no doubt it'll seem a little confusing without the other package.

captain516 Nov 28th, 2013 11:01 PM

Damn, you guys work fast :0

JohnnyQuest Nov 29th, 2013 12:43 AM

Wow, people already sending gifts! Does anyone want to post their likes/dislikes, or is "completely random" a better way to go...?
Whoever got me, I like sci-fi & horror, but "completely random" also works, now that I think about it!

Yeah a lot of stuff is priced for collectors or people who for whatever reason dont want to buy online(although we base prices off online) current gen is pretty fair, but for most of the old stuff id just recomend downloading.

As for the pillows...im just sad I havent been able to order In any with thanos' s face on them.

$350 for the Megaman Legends collection is pretty insane. I was going to Dollarama on Saturday so stopped in to see if maybe I was wrong about the prices. I was not wrong. HIGHWAY ROBBERY, IT IS!

check out mega man legends on amazon.com, (make sure the ones your looking at come with game, case, cover and instructions and will ship to canada) really not that outlandish.

but i fear we are getting off topic.

Ho ho ho! Just got back from a lengthy visit to the post office, my recipient should have the package in his grubby hands on Monday. Also, I'd like to say that I'll be in Las Vegas from the 6th - 10th, so if I seem absent that's why!

Mockery Dec 3rd, 2013 02:17 PM

MarioRPG - Make sure you put a stop on your mail if nobody's gonna be there to accept it while you're gone. Wouldn't want whoever your Secret Santa is to have the package(s) they send you get stolen cuz they were left out for days.

Tadao Dec 3rd, 2013 02:57 PM

I went to Vegas for the first time back late September-early October. People thought me and others were crazy for being there over 9 days but there is so much to do. I don't know if this your first time but make sure you go to the Pinball Museum (hole in the wall...but sooo awesome - they have change machines but bringing quarters is good too), Insert Coin (take lots of quarters) in Freemont, and Monta Ramen (will need a taxi to get there). Also, check out the Candy Store dessert sampler at Holsteins over at the Cosmopolitan! :D

I really hope to get back there. :rock P.S. Have a blast!

Protoclown Dec 4th, 2013 07:01 PM

Okay, according to the tracking information my person should have received one package yesterday...with a letter and another package still to come.

Indeed it did! Thanks so much, Protoclown! It's awesome and I can't believe there's another package on the way. I suppose I'll wait to post photos until I have everything.

I'm shipping the stuff out tomorrow. Either in the morning by USPS barring any other emergency work calls or after 10:00pm by whoever ships that late, but it WILL ship tomorrow!

Glad you like everything! I found that copy of Creepy and was mildly tempted to keep it for myself. I lost the tag for the stickers but they're from a local artist and friend of the comic shop I work for Victor Dandridge

captain516 Dec 4th, 2013 10:34 PM

Finished getting my gift together.
It will be sent out tomorrow.
Face Front, True Believer! And prepare your anus.

blood_panther Dec 5th, 2013 01:23 AM

Wow! It hasn't even passed the ship by date and yet people are getting there presents? Good work everyone!

Ex Leper Dec 5th, 2013 02:47 AM

The Koolaid liquid works perfectly if you want to commit cruel pranks on your friends and family.

Mockery Dec 5th, 2013 03:09 AM

Replicant and Ex Leper scoring some awesome holiday hauls early in the event. Nice stuff! And yeah, as blood_panter said, it's great to see people receiving their items before the shipping due date has even expired. We're off to a great start this year. Keep it up!

As in easily taint a drink or something more nefarious?

You're welcome! I was hoping you'd like it since Part 3 was always my favorite in the series, so hopefully it's high on your list as well!

replicant Dec 6th, 2013 10:03 AM

I love Jason movies. Now while Kane Hodder is my favorite Jason, I do love all the movies for one reason or another. I do like Part III alot. I am going to see Kane again next year at a convention so I might just for the heck of it get him to sign my figure. Yeah, I know it's not his Jason but to me Kane is Jason. lol :D

Mockery Dec 6th, 2013 02:48 PM

Part III is great. It has the best intro music ever, has the hilarious 3D eyeball squash scene, and it's the first time Jason puts on his iconic hockey mask.

Ex Leper Dec 6th, 2013 09:26 PM

My recipient should receive there package on Saturday.

I just got my secret santa gift, but I too have finals to study for so I'll be opening it later this week. Whoever's from New Platz, thank you! :xmas3
It's a pretty big box too, and I can't wait to dig thru it.

Enjoy it!

Alright! I got my SS gift yesterday! So get ready for a buttload of images like always, that's how I roll and that's what my gifter wanted, so check it out.

So it's a giant box, that's always a good sign, right?

Alright, so we got a letter and a ton of brown packing paper. Let's see what the letter says.

It looks like our good buddy Dextire got stuck with me this year!
He also included some candy canes and some cards, which was awfully nice of him. I just love TMNT!

Domo-kun, who popped up in last year's SS gift decided to show up for a little fun. Domo-kun loves candy canes.

Dextire's letter wants me to check out the presents before I finish it, and who am I to say no to Dextire?

A closer look at the movie card things. Domo-kun has no idea what they really are.

And holy crap, look at all this candy and these knick-knacks he through in here, I'm not going to have to buy any sweets for ages!
Also a toy sai, a pack of zombies, a key-chain bottle opener, dinosaurs, and more! Wow, Dextire really went overboard this year!

Domo-Kun seems pleased with this offering.

But wait, there's more! Five presents each wrapped in TMNT wrapping paper. I'm loving it.

Oh man! TMNT Legos, a TMNT fishing game, a lucha libre spider, four awesome movies, AND a collectors album of Wacky Packages! Great presents, Dextire! Now lets finish reading that letter he sent.

I like to think the overall theme was "awesome things."

Here's a closer look at the Wacky Packages album. He really filled it up. How thoughtful!

Here's the full haul. Thanks so much, Dextire. You really did more than you needed to. Merry Christmas!
:xmas3

Nick Dec 8th, 2013 07:35 PM

I was going to call it a day and just eat a ton of candy, but Dextire wanted to see those legos get put together so I had no choice in the matter.

Man, it's been ages since I got to play with legos. Well, if I don't count the two mini-figures I was sent last year, that is.
I just saw the commercial for these TMNT sets the other day, and I was clamoring to have one. Dextire read my mind.

Seems simple enough for a mutigen tossing sewer boat piloted by a cyborg fish mutant.

Building it was a breeze. Look at that sassy little Foot Ninja!

Now it's time to put Raph and his bike together.

Just look how cute little bitty Raphael is with his teeny tiny shell and super cute sais!

This went together just as easy as the first one did. It does look cooler though.

Just look at that shellhead, he's so proud.

WAIT! DOMO-KUN NO!

Oh Domo-Kun, what will we ever do with you?

Mockery Dec 8th, 2013 10:40 PM

Wowwwwwwwww... that right there just might be the best haul of the season. So much goodness all in one package. Nice job on the pics, Nick, and very generous of you, Dextire! That foot soldier has the biggest golden throwing stars ever. They're as large as his torso!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Color Blanks gift, Nick. Be sure to post it once you've filled it in. That reminds me, I still have one I need to finish myself.

dextire Dec 8th, 2013 11:57 PM

Glad you liked the stuff and thanks for the photo tour, Nick! Especially for the TMNT Lego thing, looks great. :xmas1
Oh, and the brown candy canes are "cappuccino" flavor. Just so you know. :lol
