Large Hadron Collider again

http://quegrande.org/countdown/

Dixie Sep 8th, 2008 01:22 PM

I wish.

Tadao Sep 8th, 2008 01:23 PM

Shhhhh, don't wish out loud! It wont come true!

Esuohlim Sep 8th, 2008 01:24 PM

Has anyone called this the Large Hardon Collider yet? lol

DuFresne Sep 8th, 2008 01:24 PM

Yeah, Encyclopedia Dramatica did :(

Esuohlim Sep 8th, 2008 01:26 PM

Oh ok, then it must not be funny after all.

RaNkeri Sep 8th, 2008 01:56 PM

Does somebody actually take this shit seriously?

Dixie Sep 8th, 2008 02:34 PM

Yeah, stupid people. Lots of them. One chicken little retard screams about something they don't know anything about and all of a sudden they have the whole chicken coop squawking and parroting them.
Who needs education when you can just speculate that scientists want to kill everybody?

El Blanco Sep 8th, 2008 11:29 PM

It could be worse. They could be playing that fucking song by Europe all the time.

And how can I get to be the guy that turns it on?

Put on cologne and wear something sexy.

El Blanco Sep 9th, 2008 10:13 AM

Hai Karate and a silk robe. Got it.

Anybody got a Barry White CD I can borrow?

DuFresne Sep 9th, 2008 11:25 AM

Thursday at noon.

Crowbar by my side.

Those headcrabs won't know what hit 'em.

Colonel Flagg Sep 9th, 2008 02:47 PM

Black holes and strangelets are a-coming. And they want our wimmins.

Pub Lover Sep 9th, 2008 03:06 PM

I'd be more amused by them being unable to spot the Higgs boson. :(

I need to find the number for my old physics professor so I can call her up and mockingly screech Neener Neener Nyner.

Dimnos Sep 9th, 2008 03:18 PM

Did you physics prof say they would never do this or something?

Tadao Sep 9th, 2008 04:09 PM

I'd be more amused if they actually turn the fucking thing on.

I heard Hawking bet someone $100 they wouldn't find it.

Wait, no. Can't they hold it off for another 10 days or so? My birthday is the 18th. I'd like to get one last hurrah in.

I had an argument with her right before I dropped out that her science would all fall apart if they couldn't find the Higgs boson.

She assured me that she had faith in it being found.

I stamped my foot, wagged my finger and stuttered something about faith's place in science.

Then I went and sat in a stairwell and had a good cry.

fluffkomix Sep 9th, 2008 08:57 PM

im going to the local kindergarten to tell little kids they're going to die tomorrow!

Esuohlim Sep 9th, 2008 09:00 PM

The "local kindergarten", you say

DuFresne Sep 9th, 2008 11:08 PM

:( Oh... Thursday's activation is just going to be a test of the beams. There won't be any actual particle collisions going on until October 21. Looks like you're good, El Blanco.

VaporTrailx1 Sep 9th, 2008 11:10 PM

I don't think it could create a black hole. That requires the collapse of a star. Which is really really really big. I don't think two protons colliding at the speed of light can do much.

but perhaps, just perhaps theyll rip a hole straight through to another dimension!

Pub Lover Sep 9th, 2008 11:31 PM

Hey New Guy, you should've just stopped at "I don't think" because your opinion on physics seems to indicated that you do not at all.

Esuohlim Sep 9th, 2008 11:38 PM

Better yet what if the collider created SUPER PARTICLES and like fuckin' QUASARS

BOOM KABOOM KAPOW
