All the tortillas are the same.

Next time you are at the supermarket look at all the corn tortillas. Regardless of brand they are all made by Gruma Corp. (Mission Foods). On top of that they are all made in Irvington, TX and use the exact same ingredients and have the same nutrition facts :eek

;o everything in the world in the united states is made around there. Try looking at a side of chips or some cereals as well

I've tried making my own before they're kinda good. Just get some maha harina flour or whatever mexican corn flour stuff and add water, and some lard if you want, then cook them up in a griddle or something.

Tortillas or pancakes?

b_squared May 21st, 2009 11:59 AM

In the valley in Los Angeles we have a tortilla factory Gracianas. Not made by mission foods. I think there is also Guerrero's which are made locally in LA.

kahljorn May 21st, 2009 01:59 PM

It makes tortillas. I think that's the recipe on the back of the bag but I can't remember.
I'm pretty sure pancakes need eggs and baking soda to make it all fluffy :(

Dimnos May 21st, 2009 02:37 PM

I thought they were slow baked in an oven? But hey what do I know about tortillas, Im not Mexican.

MetalMilitia May 21st, 2009 03:55 PM

I'm pretty sure Geggy already made this thread -

Turns out the Jews did it.

Guerrero's corn tortillas are tasty.

Kitsa May 21st, 2009 05:37 PM

if the jews did it, there'd be no chametz :(

kahljorn May 21st, 2009 06:53 PM

baking them in an oven is pretty much the same as cooking them on a griddle except griddling is faster.

The Guerrero's at my local supermarket are the same as all the others. I usually never buy supermarket tortillas because i have dozens of tortillarias and mexican markets within a bike ride of my house. My favorite taqueria makes the tortillas as they make the food. :yum

Tadao May 21st, 2009 09:17 PM

Yeah, my old GF used to make them too. Fresh is always best when it comes to tortillas.

darkvare May 21st, 2009 09:24 PM

we buy them at shops where the only thing they do is make tortillas and they always have lines of up to 15 people

Dimnos May 21st, 2009 11:07 PM

Homemade tamales are fucking good. He would be the luckiest SOB around if she does.

Tadao May 21st, 2009 11:20 PM

Heavens to Betsy, Burry's is good
Best darn bakin' in the neighborhood
Slow bakin' is why they're good
(For freshness and taste
You mustn't bake in haste.)
Nobody hurries the bakers at Burry's
Get Slooooow! Bake Burry's!

Kitsa May 22nd, 2009 01:54 PM

I'm gonna have to get my courage up and go to that secret taqueria behind the mexican grocery store :/

Tadao May 22nd, 2009 01:58 PM

The dirtier the kitchen the better the food.

Dimnos May 22nd, 2009 02:10 PM

Its where the flavor comes from. ;)

Big McLargehuge May 22nd, 2009 11:13 PM

My favorite taqueria has 99 cent tacos 5-7 on week days so i go and get two birria tacos, two de cabeza, and one de lengua.

Kitsa May 22nd, 2009 11:19 PM
