Velvet Underground
 

I just picked up the Best of Velvet Underground for 9 bucks, so I'm pleased as pickles :picklehat I love how relaxing Velvet Underground is, despite Nico's disturbing voice.

Careful of White Light/White Heat. My favorite description of this album, or at least of the song Sister Ray;

If you listen closely you can hear God waving the white flag to Lou Reed's monster.

Cock Sparrer is better.

Only the best of? That smokes. Gots to get the box set.

I hate Nico. She brings the first album down. :(

God damnit. Just when I think you couldn't get any stupidier, you prove me wrong. It's fucking astounding! Nico is the shit, and her versions of "These Days" and "Fairest of the Season," of her album Chelsea's Girls, are two of the most beautiful recordings ever. She is also excellent on the first album.

No fucking way. NICO is the shit!

Also worth exploring is her first solo album, Chelsea Girl. It's sort of akin to the mellower stuff on the first album, but less dischordant.

At first I didn't really like Nico, either, but her voice definitely grows on you.

You know, her voice is kind of growing on me too. It used to scare me a bit with its monotonity. But now I kinda like it.

Femme Fatale is the worst song the Velvet Underground ever made.
