PA Government to close down Centralia forever
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100205/...a_s_final_days
It's too bad. Centralia was a pretty cool place conceptually, with it's 40+ year long underground fire. So long Centralia, I wish I had gotten to visit you before you were leveled. |
RIP real Silent Hill :(
If we hurry though we can probably road trip it there before its officially dead. |
Is that the town that's getting swallowed up by hell?

Hi, Judge Alvin ^.^
|
Why don't they build a power plant over it to harness the heat of the raging fire?
Or is that just not practical? |
Because building a power plant on land collapsing in on itself is dangerous?

No, it won't be because it will just be fields with a lot of sink holes that are on fire. As it is now that's practically all that is left. :(
|
What am I missing here? A town with an underground coal fire that releases poison and pollution into the air is now (after many decades) forcing land owners who thought it was a giant conspiracy to move the fuck out and a few people are sad about it in some way or another because they think it's cool. Weird.
|
sounds awesome to me
|
it makes me want to find another town with a huge coal seam under it and set that on ifre :eek
|
Like if they swept the great chicago fire under the carpet.
