Documentaries

I love documentaries and now I have the Documentary channel. Anybody have any favorites? I recommend King Corn to all peoples.

Tadao Jan 26th, 2010 04:42 PM

Right now I'm watching Prophets Rising and it scares me.

Pentegarn Jan 26th, 2010 05:38 PM

I like Planet Earth

10,000 Volt Ghost Jan 26th, 2010 06:03 PM

Especially in High Definition.

Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills

A fantastic documentary and well worth your time.

Tadao Jan 26th, 2010 06:51 PM

The Prophets on was so horibbly disturbing. It was like the Bible Camp one. I think that shit scares me more than an horror flick.

I IMDBed Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills, it reminds me of a thing I saw on vampire teens. I'm sure I'm sure it's different though. Probably not. I'm all confused from 2 hours of god. :(

The Leader Jan 26th, 2010 07:50 PM

Oh goodness.
The Devil and Daniel Johnston
Outsider art + music + early mtv = magic

The Weather Underground
It really covers the history of the group, or at least the more active years.

Crumb
Fat bottomed girls is what he likes.

The Fog of War
McNamara wasn't that bad. :(

Tadao Jan 26th, 2010 10:11 PM

My BFF says I write music like Daniel Johnston. I have ye to see the documentary. :(

darkvare Jan 27th, 2010 12:22 AM

i like the taboo series on national geographic and pretty much everything tha has to do with insects and also the one about the chinnese elephant man

10,000 Volt Ghost Jan 27th, 2010 03:54 AM

I've watched a few episodes of Taboo as well.

Supafly345 Jan 27th, 2010 05:41 AM

A good one I watched recently was "For the Bible tells me so" and it outlines how the 'family values' of the christian anti-gay sentiment was invented outside of the bible and shoe-horned the meaning into bible verses and stories that meant entirely seperate things.

I think most chain video rental places would have it. Send someone to fetch it for you.

I've always liked From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga too. I still have the same VHS copy from when I was a toddler. :)

Babs Jan 27th, 2010 05:07 PM

Watch Hoop Dreams, the movie is amazing in all parts. Hands down best documentary ever made.

whoreable Jan 27th, 2010 07:18 PM

Supafly345 Jan 27th, 2010 09:25 PM

AMERICAN MOVIE
And yeah, Anvil:The story of Anvil was one of the best movies that came out last year.

Tadao Jan 28th, 2010 12:01 AM

Is that about the band Anvil? I saw a 15 minute snipet on it on Doc Chanel.

Fathom Zero Jan 28th, 2010 12:21 AM

Anvil is just stupid, though.

Wiffles Jan 28th, 2010 03:07 AM

Did you catch Russia: Land of the Czars? It was pretty good.

Babs Jan 29th, 2010 09:36 PM

You can try and watch Jesus Camp that is if you don't get sick after the first 5 or so minutes of watching it.

Burger Lord Jan 30th, 2010 01:21 AM

Anyone kinda miss the way The Learning Channel and Discovery Channel used to be before it became nothing but 24 hours of shitty job shows? I could watch maybe a special or two on Ice road truckers, or crab fishing but damn, seasons of that?

I'd like that a lot more if I didn't know the Frenchie was such a complete douchebag. It's that thing where because someone cool is an ass, so they're not as cool to you anymore. :\
