Favorite 8 bit/ chiptune artist.

Who's your favorite? I like the genre, but was wondering if anyone had some suggestions?

I heard a chiptune cover of Ordinary World by this cat PSY. I think it's a pseudonym, though.

Srsly, I was frothing at the mouth with awesome goodness.

Leeni and 8-Bit Weapon are my two favorite chiptune acts. Definitely check both of them out.

If you're looking for chiptune music, I'd recommend http://www.keygenmusic.net/ , with an archive of over 1400 cracktune tracks and with monthly updates of new songs.

Also, check out Talk To Animals: http://www.myspace.com/talktoanimals

LATE TO THE PURRTY

I like nullsleep and Random, both are on the 8bitpeoples netlabel and everything's free.

I also liked Covox a lot back in 2003/4, but I don't know about anything new he's done since then.

Check this out.

This thing is amazing! converts your NES into MIDI. Sure you can replicate the basic 5 channels on Reason, Ableton, etc... But this goes to show how more impressive you can be using your original NES. I would recommend using the NES toploader though, a lot more user friendly.

Here's a link if any of you are interested. http://www.wayfar.net/0xf00000_overview.php

you mean spambots? Sadly, no. We can only report them as we see them

Or get Famitracker, which is free. (Personally, I make stuff with Milkytracker, but my music is not at a level where I would feel comfortable releasing it.)

I like virt, Chibi-tech, Funky Fish, nullsleep, and that about does it for "fakebit" or neo-chip. As for the oldschool "we made chip music because it's all we had", Jochen Hippel, Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, the C64 work of Chris Huelsbeck, the NES work of David Wise, Koji Kondo, Yuzo Koshiro, and pretty much everyone who ever worked for Konami.
