Monster Match
I found this card game amongst a bunch of my mother's old Halloween supplies.
It's dated 1981 by the Haunted House Company. I have no clue how to play it, but I thought the art was awesome. I have a feeling there's a board somewhere that's missing. Also, the name "Neewollah" is not used enough. Heh. Anyone want to make up some rules? |
Awesome cards and great names for all of 'em. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Not sure about the rules for the game, but "Gouhly" (whose spelling I love) looks like the happiest executioner in the land. It's also good that "Two-Head" has a mustache he can scratch to demonstrate just how suspicious he is of the other head. And lastly, "Morkel" is making me crave some Honey Comb cereal, big time. |
These are great! I love that "Stumpy" is actually a stump. And "Nile" looks like it has it's arms crossed in protest of having it's picture taken.
I get most of the names except for "Sog", that one makes no sense to me. |
"Tiny" and "Vapor" look like they get along really well.

its SOS i think #halloween3

also are you sure it has a board and that its not just one of those games where you lay out all of the cards face down, and there are two of each card. So you flip one card over. Then you flip over another. If you get it right you get to keep both cards and they are your points. If you get it wrong you hope you have a good memory and your opponent has a bad memory, because then it his his turn to flip and he does the same thing.
|
I thought that too, Kahl, but then what are all the separate little circular pieces in the first photo for? Usually with those memory games, you just keep the cards you remembered correctly and there aren't any other pieces.
|
Although spelled in an incredibly odd way, Gouhly is just here to have a good time. Also, Morkel is an inspiration for normal trees everywhere. We need more haunted trees! I like to think that Handy is nothing more than a limb that was buried.
|
I think Sog is a tribute to the Soggies, the old villain that Cap'n Crunch used to fight.
|
I'm wondering if the round discs are Pog's. It says right on the cover that it's a matching game so my guess is that you play memory and it either came with Pogs or they are gambling coins.

Amazing! :lol
Now you just have to print out the card and you can play it, Chris. Plenty of Halloween bingo fun to be had there. :halloween2 |
