theres no way to describe my excitement!!!!

http://fallout.bethsoft.com/

[Nice thread title ArrowX, we all still hate u from beyond the internet grave -C]

Zomboid May 9th, 2007 01:52 AM

Wtf? I posted and it didn't go through. Anyway, I'm a bit worried about the changes that they'll make, but I'm extremely excited.

MetalMilitia May 9th, 2007 09:16 AM

So is it going to be a first person affair like Oblivion then?

darkvare May 9th, 2007 09:20 AM

damn i really like postapocaliptic games i like the bortherhood of steel so i may play this if i dont have to pay for it monthly

I hope not.

Timebomb May 9th, 2007 12:26 PM

I will play this game on my computer for fun on my spare time. :domo

Supafly345 May 9th, 2007 02:55 PM

Everyone has known about thsi for a billion years.

ArrowX May 9th, 2007 05:45 PM

I know that, but the site just launched a little while ago and just seeing the burnt out DC and that epic music makes me giddy, plus the teaser release in 27 days.

Supafly345 May 10th, 2007 12:50 AM

Until there is a trailer I'm not going to stop being an asshole about people mentioning it.

kahljorn May 10th, 2007 01:44 AM

i hated the music on that site it sounds way too much like morrowind games.

i prefer the old sounding music of the other fallouts.

ArrowX May 10th, 2007 08:39 AM

I'll agree that it didn't sound fallout-ish enough they could have had a better impact with fans if they just had the "the future is coming" pip boy image with "Kiss to build a dream on" playing

EisigerBiskuit May 11th, 2007 12:53 PM

If we know Bethesda, they'll make it better than the first games.

Seadogs.

Supafly345 May 11th, 2007 06:43 PM

Well, better won't satisfy fans if it is different. Making the game better while being the same game is what will make this game.

kahljorn May 11th, 2007 07:12 PM

Strangely i can see fallout working in the morrowind type game style ;o

Zomboid May 13th, 2007 05:53 PM

Same here. I checked out those forums though, and those fans are incredibly set in their ways. They've made several lists of demands for bethesda and they pretty much all say "DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING!" over and over again.

timrpgland May 14th, 2007 01:36 PM

We'll just have to wait and see. Can't please everyone!!!

executioneer May 16th, 2007 04:04 AM

i really don't think bethesda can screw this up so badly that i won't want to at least illegally download it

hell i'll probably buy it at full price, it's tradition

Misdemonar May 22nd, 2007 05:32 PM

you know you can downloaded the unfinshed F3 game from NMA ;o

kahljorn May 22nd, 2007 06:11 PM

I've seen that... is it any good?

executioneer May 22nd, 2007 11:25 PM

well there's only one mission, and there's a lot of unfinished sh*t

but all in all it looks like it coulda been a pretty good game

Fathom Zero Jun 16th, 2007 08:54 PM

http://www.nma-fallout.com/article.php?id=36877

Scans containing screens and other stuff from Game Informer.

executioneer Jun 17th, 2007 04:46 AM

sweet, sweet merciful motherfuckers

is there somewhere i can pre-order this game :(

executioneer Jun 17th, 2007 04:51 AM

annnnd i just watched the teaser trailer

ok i gotta go knock myself into a year-and-three-month coma now see you guys later

executioneer Jun 17th, 2007 06:08 AM

i am thrilled about the following:
character creation takes you thru the childhood of your character! (the only other time i remember seeing something like this, it was the only good part of an absolutely terrible game, but dang if i didn't like the idea)

monsters DO NOT LEVEL WITH YOUR CHARACTER (thank GOD bethesda realized this is a bad fucking idea, i did not want f3 to have this >: )

V.A.T.S, V.A.T.S, V.A.T.S :eek i fucking love the way this merges real-time and turn-based, but of course having not seen it in action i don't know FOR SURE if it's gonna work how i'm imagining, but if it does, holy shit awesome :o

not only is it gonna be gory but it's gonna have SLOW-MOTION GORE :eek

hahaha a portable nuke launcher :lol

more specific injuries in addition to HP, just like the last two :eek

and everything, especially ron perlman, in the trailer

good NIGHT

executioneer Jun 17th, 2007 06:13 AM

and i think they should just go ahead and put an M label on this, rating pending my ass

i doubt fallout 1 could have gotten a T, and i KNOW 2 couldn't have

be realistic, folks

GADZOOKS Jun 17th, 2007 06:54 AM

Here's a fun analogy! Willie is to Fallout 3 as Chojin was to the Nintendo Wii.

Say it 3 times fast.

executioneer Jun 17th, 2007 07:14 AM

why i outta

ArrowX Jun 17th, 2007 12:54 PM

I got fucking goosebumps when I heard Ron Perlman.

But will it have as many fucking goofy random encounters like the last one? like the bridge from The Holy Grail, or the Portal that sends you back in time and causes you to break the water chip?

Zomboid Jun 17th, 2007 07:36 PM

Probably not, but let's hope. This game really looks fucking awesome and maaaaaaaaan not enough people I know have played fallout.

Guitar Woman Jun 17th, 2007 08:14 PM

I bought the original Fallout today and almost immediately fucked up by taking out my knife in Shady Sands, at which point all of the townspeople converged on me with intent to kill. The dude with the rifle actually missed me and killed the guy I was going for in the first place, which made me lol.

I don't know if I can go back safely now. Please someone tell me I don't need to go there to get the rope for the Vault 15 elevator shaft. :<

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 12:06 AM

nah you can trade for it at killian's in junk town

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 12:08 AM

or uh i guess the hub or adytown, but you'll probably find junktown first

might have it in necropolis but it's a bit early to go there

plus come on MACGYVER does the voice of killian you can't go wrong w/ that

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 12:14 AM

I just found Necropolis and decimated a group of ghouls upon entry, but then I got my brains eaten when a bunch of other ones started following me. :(

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 12:15 AM

Also I'm having trouble finding Junktown, the raider guy said it was south of his camp, but all I could find was the zombie place and a fuckton of desert. Is it like southeast or something

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 12:21 AM

uhh its sort of southwest of shady sands (mostly south tho), if i remember

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 12:23 AM

almost directly south of v13 (like one square east and ten squares south)

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 12:28 AM

I found it, thanks

I'd just been kind of sweeping the desert for it, and all I found were some mole rats and the ruins of some city. The ruins would have been cool if there was any loot inside, but it was like, completely empty :(

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 12:37 AM

So I get poisoned by a scorpion on my way there, and I try and see the doctor but I can't because it's night, and when I don't leave the hospital the assholes there take out guns and start fucking SHOOTING ME

People in the future are a bunch of douchebags :<

ArrowX Jun 18th, 2007 01:08 AM

has anyone here ever seen a copy of "Fallout: Radioactive"?

Its apparently a bundle with 1,2, Tactics, and a bonus disk

also from wikipedia:
Fallout MMOG

On November 30, 2006, Interplay has filed a Form 8-K filing to the SEC regarding a potential Fallout massively multiplayer online game.[6] The Form 8-K contained a prospectus stating that Interplay will be issuing common stock on Euronext to raise capital for developing a Fallout MMOG. The report stated that the production and launch processes will require an estimated US$75 million in capital. The report also stated that production may start as early as January 2007 and the game may launch as early as July 2010.[7]
In April 2007, SEC filings were made showing the purchase of the IP for the Fallout MMO to Fallout 3 developer Bethesda for $5.75 million USD. While Bethesda now owns the rights to the Fallout MMO IP, clauses in the purchase agreement state allow Interplay to license the rights to the development of the MMO, provided that development begins within 24 months of the date of the agreement (April 4, 2007), and that Interplay must secure $30 million within that time frame or forfeit its rights to license. Interplay must furthermore launch the MMOG within 4 years of the beginning of development, and pay Bethesda 12 percent of sales and subscription fees for the use of the IP.[8]

the doctor guy in junktown isn't exactly a good guy either lol

see and if you hadn't pissed off shady sands you'd probably have a bunch of spare antitoxin from the whole "kill the radscorpions and bring the tails to the doctor" quest :x

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 02:11 AM

So I go in to get healed and stuff and when I can't pay him they shoot me AGAIN :x

Is every doctor in this game a huge asshole :<

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 02:15 AM

nope, just that guy

the one in shady sands is kind of a cock about not talking to you unless you're actually hurt after hours, but if i remember right he actually will heal you if its dark out

doc morbid on the other hand, sells the body parts of the people he fails to fix up (or possibly who just can't pay)

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 02:17 AM

don't forget, you have doctor and medical skill yourself

and you get XP for usin it successfully

yeah but my doctoring has like a 12 percent chance at succeeding and at 27% my first aid skill isn't much better :x

kahljorn Jun 18th, 2007 11:10 PM

5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click 5 click rest :(

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 11:21 PM

I also replaced my character's standard "Night Person" trait with "Bloody Mess" because it sounded awesome :(

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 11:29 PM

night person's pretty useless, yeah

i always pick gifted, and then sometimes i'll go with finesse or slim frame (although in #1 being able to carry shit is a lot more important than it is in #2), and always always pick 10 agility so that i can shoot a pistol 2 times a turn at the start or punch twice and kick once

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 11:49 PM

yeah, I had gifted and I can shoot people twice a turn so I guess I've got agility too.

So anyway I get to Killians and start talking with him, then try to buy the rope I need off him and not only does he not have it everything else is unbelievably expensive. Then I go to try the Hub place, and some black guy waltzes in and goes GIZMO SENDS HIS REGARDS

Guitar Woman Jun 18th, 2007 11:51 PM

god damnit

so anyway after that he starts shooting up the place, and I take out my gun and help the guards kill him, then they fucking TURN ON ME AND RAPE ME TO PIECES. I thought it was okay to fight in self defense at junktown wtf >:

also is there any situation in this game that doesn't end in death by fucking firing squad >:

executioneer Jun 18th, 2007 11:55 PM

did youaccidentaly hit one of the guards because that is the onyl reason i can think of that they would attack you after fighting the assassin

that or you kept ur gun out after they asked you to put it away idk

or it's a bug caused by not being patched, unfortunately both of the two games get kind fo buggy without patches

Guitar Woman Jun 19th, 2007 12:03 AM

would it have to do anything with my reputation? Because I've been raping and pillaging all of the helpless travelers I come across.

executioneer Jun 19th, 2007 12:10 AM

uhh i don't know, probably not

sometimes it just does shit like that though, make sure and save a bunch so if it does shit like that and ruins opportunities you have something to fall back on :(

Guitar Woman Jun 19th, 2007 12:30 AM

Yeah, I tried it again and nothing bad happened.

Zomboid Jun 20th, 2007 03:16 PM

Man this thread took a turn for the worse.

executioneer Jun 20th, 2007 04:47 PM

sry :(

Tadao Mar 11th, 2008 01:51 AM

So, yeah, I'm bumping an old thread. Sorry. I just found out about Fallout 3 30 mins ago and I am completely stoked. Thank god I've missed a whole year of speculating about it.

Oh, GW... You suck at Fallout :lol

Fat_Hippo Mar 11th, 2008 09:37 AM

Oh great, now I feel like playing again. I never did get to all the way to the end of Fallout 2.

And I'm cautious in regards to Fallout 3. Seriously, Bethesda has NO experience in writing good dialogue and creating atmosphere, which is what Fallout is all about. And the new combat system look like it could be seriously fucked up too. I just don't want to get my hopes up and be disapointed.

executioneer Mar 11th, 2008 10:43 AM

man its still like five months away quit it :(

Guitar Woman Mar 11th, 2008 11:03 AM

I suck at RPGs in general!

Also, I hope Bethesda can manage to do something right for once!

Dr. Boogie Mar 11th, 2008 12:20 PM

They won't, and odds are, it won't even be their fault.

Everyone's got an idea in their heads about what Fallout 3 should be/look like, and I don't think Bethesda will be able to meet people's high expectations.

I'm thinking it'll wind up like most of the recent next-gen sequels: looks good, but doesn't play as well as the original(s).

Tadao Mar 11th, 2008 03:41 PM

I think the best way for me to enjoy 3, is to not replay 1 and 2. They are not continuing a storyline from 2 and the feel will be drastically different and I haven't plaid them since they came out. I may have replayed 2 a little.

But dam if I don't want to play the old ones now.

Guitar Woman Mar 11th, 2008 05:43 PM

I thought Fallout was a really good game, but I'm not a HARDCORE OMG CHANGE NOTHING fan, probably because I never played the second one. I don't care if they change how Fallout plays, because I like the gameworld and mucking around in it. I'm just worried about this based on my past experiences with Bethedsa and how they are all a bunch of phenomenal retards when it comes to good game design.

Chojin Mar 11th, 2008 05:47 PM

Yeah, honestly? I was all in love with Bethesda until I spent an entire day searching for Oblivion mods that only when all used together make the game playable. And includes a fan-made patch for the game to fix little insignificant bugs like the game freezing when you reach a certain number of hours of play.

And running 50+ mods all at once makes the game crash every few minutes.

But seriously, bethesda wins the national award for the worst-running engines and worst 3D character models ever. Some guy released a pack of replacement heads for Morrowind that looked amazing and actually used less polys.

I can only assume that the engine used in fallout 3 will be equally clunky and stupid, and require a thousand patches to fix their bugs and make it a fun experience.

Chojin Mar 11th, 2008 05:49 PM

Oh and go download and play Fallout 2 ;< It's a great game the first time you play through it.

And come to think of it, Fallout 2 has a user-made patch for it as well, so maybe Bethesda was the right choice after all.

executioneer Mar 11th, 2008 07:00 PM

hahah yeah both of the fallouts are recommended patchers, not so much for gameplay issues as for being buggy as hell

Fat_Hippo Mar 12th, 2008 08:32 AM

Yeah, I played Fallout 1 without any patching (didn't have internet at the time). Fucking evil...still beat the game though.

Fathom Zero Mar 12th, 2008 02:01 PM

Oblivion never froze up on my 360. I mean, I've only played 50-odd hours, so that might not have been enough time.

Chojin Mar 12th, 2008 07:45 PM

The only huge recreateable bug in normal oblivion is the one where if you have TONS of game time, shit will happen like doors disappearing and whenever you look at FIRE your framerate will drop to about .2.

Fathom Zero Mar 12th, 2008 09:44 PM

Eeeeew. Well, my bros. decided to snap the game in half so I guess I'll never have the chance to recreate it. :(

Agreed. Once i spent about 20+ hours in the game, i realized that it was so, so unfinished and it was kind of disappointing.

Zomboid Mar 13th, 2008 12:36 AM

I really liked oblivion, but there's definitely a lot of room for improvement. Fixing the character models so that they don't look so awkward in everything they do would be a good idea... and maaaaan I hope they don't have the same ugly, ugly faces.

Chojin Mar 13th, 2008 12:53 AM

Reading that post reminds me of why we hate the Wii

Zomboid Mar 13th, 2008 01:14 AM

;<

Fat_Hippo Mar 13th, 2008 01:04 PM

What pissed me off most was that you can't a proper beard in Oblivion! What the shit is that? I once tried giving myself facial hair, and my body ended up blue. I wanted to be a wild barbarian and I don't even have a stubble. A goddamn disgrace it was.>:

Blaster Atoms Mar 29th, 2008 04:29 PM

I'm still upset that they removed the eye and groin hits.

executioneer Mar 29th, 2008 06:47 PM

says who

Fathom Zero Mar 29th, 2008 09:23 PM

Reports are out that the game has around 200 endings.

executioneer Mar 29th, 2008 09:26 PM

oh fuck :(

Chojin Mar 30th, 2008 03:46 AM

Which means that it'll actually just be one ending, with different text for what happens to each town, just like the old fallouts. I never understood why people claim that 500 THOUSAND ENDINGS bullshit, it's not like there are a million prerendered cutscenes waiting for you ;<

Fat_Hippo Mar 30th, 2008 04:28 AM

Whatever, I liked the old Fallout endings more than any fancy cutscenes. And if they're keeping those in the new Fallout, good for them.

Chojin Mar 30th, 2008 12:02 PM

I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, but it's downright retarded to call it 200 ENDINGS than to not be misleading about it.

Guitar Woman Apr 1st, 2008 11:31 PM

are you guys excited

I know I am

executioneer Apr 1st, 2008 11:32 PM

yes

dammit

executioneer Apr 1st, 2008 11:45 PM

i need to start saving to buy a new computer >:

Fathom Zero Apr 2nd, 2008 12:54 AM

Or a 360/PS3

Guitar Woman Apr 2nd, 2008 01:39 AM

yeah, not being able to fix the retarded problems this game will inevitably have sounds like great fun

executioneer Apr 2nd, 2008 01:51 AM

yeah its BETHESDA :(

Guitar Woman Apr 2nd, 2008 02:05 AM

To be fair you don't have to do too much to Daggerfall to fix it ;<

That's also my favorite Elder Scrolls game so far, even though I only spent about half an hour on it

Blaster Atoms Apr 2nd, 2008 04:15 AM

Due to xbox failures, switching to computer, and getting mods, I've wound up restarting Morrowind at least six times. I still have yet to finish it, but now have no will to go through the beginning again. When I finally get around to upgrading my graphics card, Maybe I'll be able to play Oblivion. Maybe even Fallout 3...

Fathom Zero Apr 2nd, 2008 07:33 AM

I've never had any problems anybody else had. My 360 copy of Oblivion is perfect and I'm gonna go pick up a copy of Morrowind GOTY from Gamecrazy. $7.

executioneer Apr 2nd, 2008 11:32 AM

it's perfect apart from the awful scales-to-your-level gameplay, you mean

Dr. Boogie Apr 2nd, 2008 12:12 PM

No using "perfect" in any description of Oblivion.

And Fallout 3 will be just like the Elder Scrolls games: great world, crummy gameplay. It's a prediction. A prediction!

Fathom Zero Apr 2nd, 2008 04:52 PM

Perhaps I live in some fucked up other-dimension but I never had a single problem, (aside from one or two broken quests that I never figured out.)

Dr. Boogie Apr 2nd, 2008 08:02 PM

Neither did I, until I learned that unarmed combat didn't get the same treatment as any other weapon discipline.

executioneer Apr 2nd, 2008 08:47 PM

fathom did you like final fantasy 8

Fathom Zero Apr 2nd, 2008 08:56 PM

It was okay, but Squall was a douchebag and I never finished it.

Fat_Hippo Apr 11th, 2008 04:04 AM

Some new stuff 'bout Fallout 3 http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallout3/news.html?sid=6189021&tag=topslot;title;2&om_act=c onvert&om_clk=topslot

Well, it sounds cool enough, I guess. Though I'm still not sure what to make of the real-time combat. :\

Chojin Apr 18th, 2008 09:07 PM

Quote:

Later, you'll be whisked away to additional tutorial areas, such as a target range, where you can practice the game's real-time first-person shooter combat.
