Capturing video from a DVD drive?

I need to capture some video from a DVD in my DVD drive so I can make a short .wmv file out of it. Any suggestions on how to do this? No programs seem to list the DVD drive as a source for capturing video... they only let me choose my video camera or my ATI card as a source.

I can play the DVD just fine using the tools that the ATI card came with, but I don't see anything that allows me to capture the footage.

You won't be able to use the DVD as a source in the same way as a DV unit. You'll have to rip either the whole movie or part of it and then import the exported file into your video editor.

There should be something you can use here:

But I don't know if any of them let you bypass the copy protection if the DVD has any. I'll look into it, but I'm sure someone else has better advice on this than I can give. I'm sure Jixby would know.

Thanks guys... I ended up getting a program called "Smart Ripper" from that videohelp.com site. Worked like a charm.
