I think that the original was crazy enough from the looks of it but still greaet work all the same Protoguy.

Protoclown Feb 4th, 2008 07:12 AM

Bonus points to anyone who can identify the third Joe who remains in his fatigues the whole time.

El Blanco Feb 4th, 2008 08:54 AM

Ripcord

thecatillaccat Feb 4th, 2008 08:56 AM

I'll go out on a limb and say...Duke. If that is not the case, then I default with Fonzi.

mburbank Feb 4th, 2008 09:51 AM

Okay, maybe 's just the Percodan talking, but that was friggin' hi-larious.

That just wrote itself didn't it.
I can't even imagine what the original was!

Protoclown Feb 4th, 2008 05:41 PM

Well done, El Blanco. I'm guessing you've read the issue before, since he looks like Captain Generic without his official "costume" on.

BurntToShreds Feb 4th, 2008 06:18 PM

Did you just make a Clerks reference??

Jaimas Feb 4th, 2008 08:41 PM

Jesus Christ, this is the best one yet, I think.

Haha, I couldn't resist. Didn't exactly hide it, but I didn't want to quote it exactly either.

Not just a Clerks reference, but a Clerks: The Animated Series reference!!!

Colonel Flagg Feb 5th, 2008 03:22 AM

I almost want to see the original, but no, let some of the mystery remain.

I realize that these older comics sometimes depict situations where, when taken out of context, are extremely funny given the changes in customs over the years, but my GOD, could we have changed this much? Since when was it OK for a mom and her children to attack someone at a frigging mall? Seriously, they must have been replicants eating ice cream, yes that makes sense.

Actually, Protoclown, your version is way better than anything the original writers could have come up with.

Purple Man Feb 5th, 2008 04:27 AM

This is soooooo much better than the original could ever be.

Didn't Spirit usually have a bird with him?

El Blanco Feb 5th, 2008 07:57 AM

Actually, taken as a stand alone, the original is pretty funny. the "father" really talks like that. Sadly, I think that turns out to be one of the better story lines in comic books.

El Blanco Feb 5th, 2008 07:59 AM

Sorry for the double post, but I feel I should mention that bear eventually becomes Ripcord's girlfriend.

Protoclown Feb 5th, 2008 05:44 PM

Yeah, I loved the majority of Larry Hama's run. It's far more entertaining than the Image stuff of recent years.

Dungeonbrownies Feb 5th, 2008 05:49 PM

wth was the original text?
it couldnt have made much sense either...

Kirbykid Feb 6th, 2008 10:02 AM

That was pure insanity! then again, I'll bet yours gives a better reason for all this madness then the original.

beatpole Feb 6th, 2008 06:42 PM

Clearly whoever made the original never saw the G.I. Joe PSA on not doing drugs on the job, maybe Spirit shared some poyote with him.

Autrach Sejanoz Feb 7th, 2008 01:09 AM

Fantastic work as always, Proto. Keep it up!

blood_panther Feb 7th, 2008 02:46 PM
