Does ANYONE play fighting games with directional buttons?
Seriously. It just seems fucking impossible to even attempt.
A while ago I was at a friend's house playing SFA3 for the first time and jesus, my thumb feels like it's being burnt to a crisp. I was able to play normally, but it was just painful to execute anything. I know that game's pretty old (might've been before the Dualshock, I could be wrong) but I remember playing Guilty Gear Isuka once and from what I remember, there was no analog option in that game (maybe my controller was fucked up, too :/ ). Thing is, is there anyone who plays using directional buttons, and how do they prefer it to analog style? |
I usual use the D-Pad out of habit, in newer games like Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO I used the Analog sticks.
|
unless i have a joystick, i use the d pad. and the ps1 d pad is the only way to go....
|
agreed the ps1 d-pad rules.
the main reason ill probably not bother with SF2 or MK3 on xbox live arcade is because of the rubbish 360 d-pad |
i only use d-pads for figthing games :/
|
D-Pad all the way unless the D-Pad blows.
The PS and PS2 D-pads were good. SFA3 is a awesome game. Ken is just unstoppable in that game. |
fighting games on the DS amke me cry bitter tears!
|
I only use the d-pad for fighting games. I don't see how you couldn't.
|
d-pad is the only way to go, especially for games like Guilty Gear. how else will you execute combos?

Wow. I guess it just must be personal preference for me then.
I mean, I just got my first ever blister from playing a video game from that moment. :( It just seemed bizarre, since I've never seen anyone else play using a D-Pad. I've played GGXX billions of time and I don't think I could even stand a chance using the D-Pad on that game. :/ |
I never use the D-Pad anymore. probably because its hard in games like Street Fighter to do Super Arts. Especially moves that require that you perform a 360 degree movement. But i usally use my X-Arcade. Gives me practice for my weekly battles at the arcade.

Joysticks and Analog sticks are not the same thing.
|
Depends on how big the stick is.
|
Well, I dunno. I use the analog stick as it is the closest to the Joystick on the X-Box controller. The D-Pad is garbage
|
Back on dreamcast ALL my fave fighting games focused on the Dpad and I HATED it. ANALOG FOREVER!

I play Tekken with the D-Pad. I find it easier than using the analog stick; it just juts out too far for me.
|
dude, is it strange that i use my fingers for the punch and kick buttons on tekken instead of my thumb?
|
i have only ever used a d-pad in a fighting game, and frankly i don't see how i could even begin to use analog
analog's too imprecise |

I use the D-pad with fighting games, hell I even done it for the gamecube and that blew big time, however it was still more precise than an analouge stick.
|
yeah i use the d-pad and i will kick anyone's ass that uses the a-stick :/ you cant do shit with the stick except get your ass beat down
and please dont bring up the "well in the arcade you use a joystick!" WELL IT AINT THE ARCADE BOY |
