I'm going to start buying shares until I become a mod then.

Mockery Jun 4th, 2009 06:48 PM

Haha I was offered more than that for the site and turned it down. No thanks. :picklehat

Chojin Jun 4th, 2009 07:13 PM

4chan's estimated value: $219,595

It's the 2nd-largest forum on the entire internet. This site is lowballing like crazy.

Chojin Jun 4th, 2009 07:15 PM

Hahaha, maybe not though, WiiKitty.com is worth $1,422.

I would sell it for that in a HEARTBEAT.

Tadao Jun 4th, 2009 07:15 PM

Sure but is it worth it?

Chojin Jun 4th, 2009 07:17 PM

I have no idea what anyone could use that site for.

Tadao Jun 4th, 2009 07:21 PM

I'll buy it for 5 dollars so that I can put up pics of cats peeing. I'm sure someone would pay to look at those.

The problem with sites like that which try to estimate the worth of other sites is that they only factor in shit like traffic ranking. They don't factor in the truly important stuff. Sure, you're getting a domain name with a good ranking, but you're also getting 13+ years of CONTENT. Huge articles, custom video games, comics, dedicated fanbases, etc. So say somebody came to me today and offered 70k for i-mockery. If I break that down over 13 years, that's basically a little over 5k per year which is completely laughable.

So yeah, any company that tries buying other sites based on what esitestats tells them is in for a rude awakening. Then again, there are some people who are just in it to make a quick buck and/or are really young and eager to jump at the first offer they get. I've seen it happen and it's a shame when it does.

Personally, I'm just glad we've been able to last for so many years, particularly now with online ad rates being so low and the economy being total shit.

ok it ranks four wordpress blogs at higher traffic ranks than YOUTUBE, clearly something is fucked up here

Esuohlim Jun 4th, 2009 11:41 PM

esuohlim.com is $6 and hasn't existed in three years :eek
