Hmm, ocker isn't really redneck. Ocker is an adjective that happens to often be farm related.

Oh the nuances of our glorious language.

Kitsa Feb 21st, 2011 01:08 PM

Someone better tell Tony Horwitz because it was in the glossary of his outback travel narrative.

"ocker: An unsophisticated or redneck Australian; noun or adjective. "

All Hail Duke Feb 21st, 2011 03:11 PM

had french toast sticks and a dr pepper

Kitsa Feb 21st, 2011 04:42 PM

Indian food for lunch. My daughter got most of it, as usual, but her diaper should be a doozy.

Shrubfest Feb 24th, 2011 09:46 AM

Potato and leek soup, with crackers and a little bit of powder blue paint off my fingers.

Tadao Feb 24th, 2011 11:30 AM

Mmmmm, I love leeks.

Kitsa Feb 27th, 2011 09:11 PM

I spent the day making a feast of Indian food. Now I'm so tired and full I can barely walk.

Guitar Woman Mar 1st, 2011 12:49 AM

hooray, 80% sugar!

skittles would actually be a better dietary choice since they're partially dextrose and therefore can be partially absorbed by muscle mass.

Fathom Zero Mar 1st, 2011 03:11 AM

Tangerines have more shit in 'em. Booyah, I win.

Zhukov Mar 1st, 2011 07:25 AM

I've been stuffing my face with sugary sweets every free second I get. I don't give a shit you fat fucks. 100% sugar. Straight out of the jar.

The Leader Mar 1st, 2011 12:19 PM

Fuckin' A.

Big McLargehuge Mar 1st, 2011 04:45 PM

I just ate a tiny pizza with mushrooms and a ridiculous amount of zucchini.

leftover "fiesta platter" from the el salvadorean place, steak + chicken fajita style and shrimp + rice and beans

it was so dang good

Kitsa Mar 1st, 2011 08:35 PM

This is day 3 of Indian food because Mr. Kitsa spent NINETY DOLLARS (that's the refrain) to get fresh versions of the ancient spices I had, and dammit if he had to spend NINETY DOLLARS on food we're going to be eating it until it's gone.

Day 1, I made homemade cheese, homemade sauce base, a veggie dish and a sort of a CTM thing. And rice, and bread that took 4 hours.

Day 2, I made a chickpea dish, a veggie dish, and more rice. And more bread.

Day 3, I made navrattan korma, spicy scrambled tofu, and more rice.

I don't know what the hell I'm going to do tomorrow. I'm tired and my feet hurt.

All Hail Duke Mar 2nd, 2011 12:26 AM

Zhukov Mar 2nd, 2011 11:13 PM

I'm eating chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Uh, spell check, macadamia is a word, thanks.

Kitsa: I generally only ever use expensive spices once before they are lost in the back of the cupboard and turn into solid spice bricks.

MLE Mar 2nd, 2011 11:49 PM

Tasty bricks.

Kitsa Mar 3rd, 2011 08:19 AM

Wow. I buy them bulk in big bags from the Indian grocery. They're much less expensive that way; I just had a lot to replace because the supply lasted me about 10 years last time.

All Hail Duke Mar 3rd, 2011 01:10 PM

Kitsa Apr 13th, 2011 07:27 PM

Not indignant exactly but it'll work.

I had a pumpkin-and-chocolate-chip cookie and it was fucking delicious. You wouldn't think that pumpkin and chocolate could be ok but it was.

Maybe you have aids :eek

Fathom Zero May 12th, 2011 12:48 AM

so many pizza

Kitsa May 12th, 2011 07:51 AM

Or maybe my history of radiation therapy leaves me a bit more immunosupressed than the average person.

I always fight the stuff off eventually.

Colonel Flagg May 12th, 2011 09:56 AM

Tostito's "Hint o' Jalapeño". :yum

It's like there's a bonfire going on in my mouth.

Kitsa May 12th, 2011 10:42 AM

I tried their "Hint o Lime" and nearly gagged. It was an unpleasant surprise, since Chipotle has a version that they manage to pull off. That's real lime juice, though.

I am eating brown rice and Makoto Ginger sauce. I love the hell out of Makoto ginger sauce. Years ago, I went on a diet and all I ate was salad with the ginger sauce, skinless chicken breasts and tenderloins, and chicken broth. Maybe some sugarfree pudding if the sweets craving was driving me nuts. I lost like 70 lbs in 3 months. I was also swimming and exercising like a maniac, though. I don't have that sort of energy now and it was depressing that I couldn't seem to get past a certain size. I was just destined to be plump, I guess.

I got my garden planted and plan to eat lots of produce this summer. I've planted yellow and red onions, three varieties of red and orange bell pepper, three jalapeno plants, yellow and green zucchini/courgettes, lots of tomatoes (including some weirdo white and blue varieties), carrots, romaine lettuce, peas, green beans and wax beans. I also have a strawberry bed that's well-established and always produces a lot of tiny, sweet berries.

Hell of a lot of work weeding, though, since I'm in the cancer bonus round and don't do herbicides and pesticides.

Colonel Flagg May 12th, 2011 01:32 PM

So when are you inviting me to dinner? :D

The "Hint o Lime" was an unusual taste sensation - all at once, citrus, vinegar, corn and BHT. Not a combination for the faint of heart.

I like sharply flavored chips, though.

MLE May 12th, 2011 02:15 PM

Utz's Pretzel sticks :D

Kitsa May 12th, 2011 02:20 PM

All I could taste was the burn of sodium and some vague citrus flavor that might have been powdered Mr Clean, for all I know.

WhiteRat May 12th, 2011 08:03 PM

Fried egg sandwhich w/ketchup.

Colonel Flagg May 12th, 2011 08:25 PM

Marinated NY Strip steaks, au gratin potatoes and peas. :awesome

Fathom Zero May 12th, 2011 08:26 PM

that sound fucking delicious right now. I wish I had time to eat.

Kitsa May 13th, 2011 09:22 AM

All of the closeup foodporn shots on Dexter make me hungry. Last night after I watched I got to craving a buffalo chicken strip salad with blue cheese crumbles. If I can get to a grocery store today, I plan to have that for dinner.

kahljorn May 13th, 2011 04:32 PM

A BUFFALO STRIPBAR SALAD

NOT WHERE ID BE GOING TO EAT SALAD

Kitsa May 13th, 2011 06:40 PM

Aforementioned buffalo chicken salad. It was fantastic. I just grilled chicken tenderloins and then broiled them in the buffalo sauce, rather than deal with the extra carbs and fat from the breading. Chicken breast on butter lettuce with the new Marzetti "Simply Dressed" bleu cheese dressing.

Afterwards, sliced frozen banana with chocolate syrup. Tastes like a banana split except you don't feel like such a fatty afterwards.

Guitar Woman May 13th, 2011 07:39 PM

Almonds.

I think they're the second best nut after pistachios.

Kitsa May 13th, 2011 07:42 PM

Pistachios would be perfect if you didn't get that damn sore spot on your thumb after you've opened five or six of them. Or at least, I get a sore spot the way I open them. I guess I should pay more attention to the commercials.

I like Brazil nuts, but I learned the hard way never to buy them in public with grandparents around :(

"WE USED TO CALL THOSE (N WORD) TOES"

Colonel Flagg May 13th, 2011 08:29 PM

And they find it necessary to yell that at the top of their lungs, thinking they're "BEIN' REAL QUIET SO'S NO ONE HEARS!" :\

Back to food - Extra-hot Buffalo chicken strips (appetizer as an entrée) with a garden salad and ice water. I'm watching my figure too. :chunky

Chick-fil-a (aka Jesus Flesh) and Waffle Fries

Kitsa May 14th, 2011 07:37 PM

I had chick-fil-a for breakfast, my first time ever eating there. Everything tasted sweet and the soda tasted vile. I don't know if that's the way it usually is or I just got lucky.

Mr. Kitsa just handed me a Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout to try. Eee-yick, not a big fan of that.

Kitsa May 15th, 2011 08:43 PM

Kitsa May 15th, 2011 09:03 PM

I just like it straight. It's a guilty pleasure.

MLE May 15th, 2011 11:14 PM

I gave this to Ms Pretty Kitsa, but I figured everyone would like it.

I usually just slip my bottom front teeth into the little crack and pry them open like an oyster after I'm done sucking all the salt off the shell. The only problems I encounter with pistachios are A, when there's a completely closed nut, because those shells are like fucking diamonds, and B, when I eat, like, 500 in one sitting, and saltburn my tongue so bad I can't taste anything for the rest of the week.

It's worth it, though, they're really the best nuts ever.

Kitsa May 17th, 2011 05:01 PM

My teeth would never hold up to pistachio shell.
